Really Enjoyed This Book
This book was special. I couldn’t stop reading and finished in one sitting. It was 3:30 am - but I couldn’t put it down. I loved how the characters were introduced and I loved that each had a true journey throughout the book. Henry and Clara absolutely captured my heart. I found myself choked up at the beauty of some of the reveals and I really really loved the ending. I’d love to know about more people in the town as the town comes back to life. I want to know Pansy as an adult! Please do a series!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Totally binge listened...5is is exactly what you want a fluffy read to be, charming, meaningful, real, funny and with plenty of gush, a lovely man and feel good moments.
I loved this book so much. I thought it would be a quick, fun read. It was so much more than that. I fell in love with the characters and really felt like I was in the little village of Merryknowe! I laughed and cried often. Francesca Waite is a wonderful narrator. I could listen to her read to me all day!
Buying a thatched cottage has always been the dream of Clara, roses around the door, children, husband and complete contentment.
However dreams are life very rarely match.
When Clara finds her boyfriend and best friend have been goign behind her back - discovered all thanks to cottage pie! Clara realises she cannot live in the shadow of their relationship and buys a thatched cottage, in Merryknowe unseen called Acorn Cottage.
So the dream suddenly becomes a reality without the roses, the children, the husband and actually not much more else than a roof over the four walls. It is not really a dream more a disaster.
Enter Henry and his daughter Pansy, in their little van. Looking for a place to stay and also Henry is looking for a place to work - what better place than Clara's cottage.
Rachel has walked past Acorn Cottage for almost all of her life and it was her dream to be in there too. She initially resents Clara taking away that but actually Clara is the catalyst in helping Rachel follow her dream after a disastrous start in life.
Add into the mix, Joe the good looking butcher, Tassie McIver a elderly lady with a penchant for tea leaves and predicting life and the story starts weave together some magic which kept me turning the page and wanting to know if Acorn Cottage was the place for Clara to heal and start all over.
Kate Forster weaves a lovely romantic tale into the renovation of a cottage, of the start of moving on for Clara, Henry and Rachel as well as the pull of a community in difficult times. What more could you want from a book - a cottage, a village, a bakery full of cake and romance.
A lovely read and well worth losing yourself in.

A surprise!
What a brilliant, sweet book. Not a typical romance but filled with redemption, magic and laughter! I needed a book like this!

I had to stop my former roster of books to read because law school takes up so much reading time and I can't tackle meaty stuff as much due to time constraints. But I managed to sneak in this wonderful read. Great if you're a fan of romances involving a cottagecore aesthetic but you don't want to think too much about anything. Perfect for those wanting a quick easy fix. Loved that the protagonist had a secret that is actually like, worrying in real life if I heard it told to me, but the way the book reveals it is so funny to me. Just quickly said it at the end and then it's ok <3 peace and love etc.
Moderate: Emotional abuse
I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed this book.
It wasn't what I was expecting and I think it helped I was in the mood for this as I think if I hadn't have been I wouldn't have read it so fast and enjoyed it so much.
Honestly lost a star for the story about chickens dying.
Nice simple romance.
