Yamai is super gross. 32 year old dudes going to high school festival maid cafes and lusting after children is criminal. There is some seriously problematic content in this series. I would love for it to disappear as it's not only wrong and disturbing, it does the strong story elements a real disservice.

Now to the good. I love the addition of Onemine and Otori-- along with Najimi and Nakanaka, Otori is one of my favorite secondary characters. I appreciated that Onemine called Najimi on their bs. If I have one critique of Tadano, it's that he can be a pushover. As always, I love the evolving relationship between him and Shoko.

I picked this up as part of my continuation of this series.
"Komi Can't Communicate, Vol. 5" follows Komi and her new friends as Komi continues to try to make friends. In this installment, the group work together to try to raise more money than the rest of the classes by hosting a maid cafe.
This installment more than the previous felt more like the characters were treating Komi like an object to "win". So very few people actually know Komi, or want to, they just see her as beautiful and want her in their lives. This volume also felt very over the top and the characters repeatedly made crazy decisions that felt highly dramatized.
I will still probably continue this series, as I am now curious to see if Komi can make 100 friends.

This continues to be a fun, lighthearted, yet heartwarming series! New characters are introduced (Onemine is AWESOME!) and new challenges are presented for our dear Komi, but it never stops being entertaining. I loved the culture festival chapters (Najimi is so FUCKING hilarious and awesome, such an underrated character) and the typhoon chapter was so damn adorable my miserable heart swelled ten times over.

Loving this series and always looking forward to what shenanigans the gang is going to get into next!
