DNF.
Not for me.
The so called Hero is in bed with a woman at the start, a woman who isn't the heroine.
He leaves the bar with a woman who isn't the heroine.
The heroine witnesses them together.
Not much detail to scenes with other women but just not for me.
The heroine is a virgin.

Method: audiobook

Rating: 4/5 stars

H rating: 4/5 - Jesse. Even though he was a playboy, I think he had a lot of demons that he overcame.

h rating: 4/5 - Belle. I almost felt that with her being so sheltered it made her pretty naive.

Drama: 4/5 - Crazy amounts of family drama..I am super interested in what happened to the sister.

Thoughts: Great book, ready for Beau!

“God, grant me the serenity to accept the memories I cannot change, the courage to heal the wounds I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Amen”

Desertion, the third book in the Knight’s Rebel MC series is all about Jesse. I loved Jesse’s character from the very first book. He’s the light-hearted, silly member of the group. But those smiles, bad jokes, and whoring ways hide the true man and his pain. Or it did, until Bell entered his life and turned it upside down.

Bell is a nurse who is living her life trying to make everyone around her happy. Five years earlier, her family suffered a devastating loss when her younger sister, Paige, disappeared without a trace. Since then, Bell has tried to make her paranoid mother happy by living the way her mother believes she should. Now at twenty-three, Bell has yet to truly experience life. And then she met Jesse while looking for help in finding her sister.

Sweet, funny, lighthearted Jesse with his whoring ways has a much darker side that he tries to hide. A former fire fighter, he joined the Marine Corps to please his father after 911, got seriously injured, lost friends, and came home with a massive amount of guilt. Upon his return, he found brotherhood in the Knight’s Rebel MC and quickly became part of the family. Jesse has been fighting demons from his childhood all his life and Bell becomes the catalyst that causes serious changes in his life.

Once again, River Savage wrote a book that is equal parts intensity, humor, and dirty, dirty sex. She kept the story enjoyable by keeping her characters interesting, engaging, and totally unpredictable. Jesse and Bell takes the reader on a ride that is honest and real. His battle with PTSD and childhood abuse is painful and hard to read at times, and unfortunately Bell gets the worse of it. I thoroughly enjoyed Desertion, and can’t wait for Beau and Mackenzie’s story!

I am a fan of this series and to be honest I am a little surprised at the way that Jesse's story has unfolded. I was surprised at Jesse's treatment of Bell on several occasions. Jesse is dealing with a lot with his serious struggles. The idea of Jesse hiding all of his pain behind his outward image as a love them and leave them devil-may-care type of character is appealing and that is what Savage gives us. But, and it's a pretty big but, Jesse has darkness that spreads into his treatment of the one person who shouldn't receive it. Jesse makes some choices that made me not like him so much. It's hard to come back from some actions and it was hard for me move on from some of his.

Bell is so innocent, naive and sheltered by her parents that even at 23 years old she is having trouble moving towards being independent. With the trauma that Bell and her parents face getting help from Jesse seems the answer to her problems. Even with the flaring attraction and emotional pain that striving to be with Jesse brings her Bell stays to get the answers that she needs.

Savage always brings the sexy and angst to her stories and there is plenty of both in DESERTION. However, my ability to hold a grudge unless sufficient penance has been paid keeps me from enjoying Jesse as much as I enjoyed my biker boos Nix and Shy! But, I will still happily move on to whatever comes next in the KNIGHT'S REBELS series.

Another good addition to the series.
This is the story of Jesse. Jesse is an ex-marine, haunted by his experiences in Afghanistan. Guilt and regret burn his insides all the time. He is cocky, a player and hides behind a mask of indifference all the time.
When innocent and inexperienced Bell is thrown in his path, his life takes an unexpected turn. He wants her in his bed but his flirting isn't getting him anywhere until Bell realizes that he can help her locate her lost sister, Paige.
Bell's sheltered life is going to be shaken the moment Jesse agrees to help her and she will have to be strong. Jesse tries but fails to keep their relationship purely physical and when she gets too close, his inner demons will come forth, threatening their fragile relationship.

I liked the storyline. The pace was fast and I loved that we got real insight to Jesse's pain. Bell was desperate for help and I think that made her weak to Jesse's sometimes too abrupt ways. I found him very short with Bell at times and I would have liked it if she had been stronger when it came to him. She didn't deserve his cruelty most of the time, although I must admit that she too needed to change her ways.
I loved that we got glimpses of the other Rebels couples. Nix, Kadence, Sy & Holly really added to the story and made it even more entertaining.
If you are a fun of the series, then this book won't disappoint you.
