I thoroughly enjoyed this book. After starting last year, and stopping after a couple of chapters, I rented it from my local library and gave it another chance. I'm so glad I did. I like when books hop between the different characters, showcasing how the stories ultimately go together. It also helped me to see my own relationship with my mother and how she has worked to reconcile her mistakes from my childhood. It took a few days longer than I thought to read, but this was because I re-read some parts for full understanding and feeling.

Small town with diversity. Family with diversity. Friends with diversity. Lots of diversity, but most of the diversity is toward sexuality. Good choices and poor choices. Selfishness and selflessness. I especially appreciated: characters recognizing that they've done wrong and apologizing, good amounts of positive introspection, families learning to support and encourage, and fine writing.

Just an ok story that I read in a day. Felt like an updated Gilmore Girls.

I wish beyond all wishes that I could abandon books when I’m not into them. This one is a bit similar to The Most Fun We’ve Ever Had except the characters are way more likeable. This is a book about family dynamics and drama...lack of communication and then it just sort of ends.

Hmm...I still feel like I don't know any of these characters or really understand their issues or motivations. There's a lot going on, and all of it feels important, but it's pretty tough to say what really is.

An enjoyable study of personalities and relationships. Not super existential, but still astute with well written observations. I appreciated its modern themes, which I suppose many authors stay away from so their books aren’t someday very dated. I enjoy knowing what time period a book takes place in once in a while, though, so this was refreshing to me.
