I think I would have enjoyed this more if I was a real ~adult~/a parent. There were parenting concepts in there that I couldn’t quite connect with. My mom would love it though.

Sometimes you pick up a random fiction book from Barnes and Noble and it's amazing, and sometimes you pick up a book like this. It's entirely driven by sex and sexuality, holding those out to be the main points of life--it gets exhausting after a while, especially given the fact that each character continually ends up unsatisfied. How I wish to reach through the pages and grab each one of them by the shoulders and say, "Shouldn't there be something more out there?" I think most of them would listen. But as it is, with every character's focus on the futile and more than a little misandry mixed in, I don't think I'd re-read this one.

It feels great to be finishing books from my TBR shelf. This one is another gem by Emma Straub, who is an auto-buy author for me. I flew through this one. This is a fantastic novel about a family, siblings, friends, a granddaughter, a small community in NY, love, and the joys and heartache of parenting. Astrid and Cecelia are my new favorite characters. I love a book with sibling drama and Astrid is a mom to three grown children and questioning everything she thought she knew about them.

It was okay. Cute, feel good, I teared up at some parts. But just kind of short and sweet, nothing crazy or profound. Characters and story line felt a bit rushed and underdeveloped, but it all wrapped up nicely!

honestly I don't super remember this book - I think it was a solid read that I was engaged in, but didn't love
