If there is a book that should be made into a movie it’s this one. Think 2000s romcom vibes. Loved this story. Would highly recommend.

I've been putting off reading this book but once I started I could not stop.
The good:
1. I found it to be funny- like there were a few moments where I audibly chuckled because the writing was giving slapstick comedy energy.
“Amelie, we have to retort. The post already has hundreds of comments and likes and . . .” He frantically points at the phone. “And the other buttons.” They're talking about a tweet.
Speaking of tweets, I was eating them up. Did it feel like Wendy's dissing the other restaurants circa 2020? Yes. But it was fun to watch them in their element.
2. BARBARA! I loved her! She was such a ball of sunshine best friend you could ask for ride or die kinda girl. The only happy constant in Amelie's life I think. I swear I think her back hurts from carrying her kid and the lighthearted moments of this book.
3. I think the present day moments were definitely better than the past and I enjoyed reading them more and the ending was nice when everyone finally caught a breather
The bad:
1.The emotional cheating. I just couldn't get over how messy the situation was. Granted the choices Amelie was making were a by-product of her terrible situation and I felt bad for her- I really did- but something about it was also giving me the ick. Like her not shutting things down before they got out of hand with both her fiancé and Ian. And Ian relentlessly perusing a engaged woman also did not sit well with me
2. The fiance- I forgot his name and cannot be bothered to check- I hated him I wish Amelie dumped him long before the book started. But also he just disappeared at the end of the book. Good. I hope he jumped off a microwave.
3. Martha. WHAT KIND OF FRIEND DOES THAT. I understood (I didn't) her pov when it was revealed at the end but at that point it was a little too late to fully forgive and forget
The okay:
1. Ian. I have mixed feelings about him. Like yes he encouraged Amelie to pursue her dreams, stood by her when she was at her lowest but again with the emotional cheating thing- like he clearly had problems he had to deal with before getting into it with Amelie again but that was never acknowledged properly.
Also this reminded of that one Hans Christenson movie about two rival families owning pizzerias I saw a Drew Gooden video about (I have not seen the actual movie so I could be wrong)

- friends to strangers to rivals to lovers (I know)
- second chance-ish
- sunshine mmc
- dual timeline
- MESSY
- meet cute
3.5 stars rounded up. I really enjoyed most aspects of this book but it felt at least 100 pages too long. Parts of it dragged a bit for me and I got tired of the constant back and forth. I don’t know if I would’ve felt different if the timeline was linear and minor flashbacks (I.e. the situation with Ian’s dad being a big flashback reveal). BUT Ian was such a fun character and he did the grand gestures along with the small ones. Frank and Martha made me want to rage because they were both SO SELFISH. I truly hope I never endure people like that in my personal life.

Virkelig skuffet havde virkelig troede mere om bogen og er træt afi begge bøger har cheating trop med
Amelie has been with the same guy since high school. She wants to get married and the two make an agreement. Then steps in Ian. This is a slow burn. There are two timelines going through the book as well.
He falls first. One POV. She loves weddings. Star crossed lovers.
Steamy read.
Spoiler- didn’t care for the date with the dad.
