A short listen and an adequate start to my holiday listening lineup, but nothing spectacular. Probably the cleanest, most G rated romance I’ve ever encountered, which was both uniquely refreshing and utterly disappointing in equal measure.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book. What a fun, positive book. I’m drawn to books featuring Alaska, and this was no different. The desolation is described, but also the hidden treasures. A fun read.

Super fast read but I must admit the narrators on the audiobook got on my nerves a bit. I don’t know if it was the over exaggerated accents or what but not my favorite. The summary at the beginning to get you up to speed could have been a novel on its on. I did enjoy the Alaskan background with all its magical glory.

This one had a lot of back and forth and back and forth. Still a good story but not my favorite of hers.

Debbie Macomber is probably the most consistent writer out there. You know what you are going to get with her work - nice characters, a nice story, and a happy ending. This time, it was in Alaska with two nice characters falling in love. This particular story did not grab me as much, maybe because it seemed so much shorter than her other stories. I think I would have been more drawn to the characters if more time was spent on them getting to know each other, than just a couple of quick kisses and then a random marriage proposal. And the character of Jack was written like an 80 year old curmudgeon, and I had a hard time thinking he was only like 50!

I imagine this is the kind of books the AI will write in the future by mimicking previously written romance books. The writing was awkward and childish. I wanted to relate to the characters, but it was just so poorly written it was impossible. Their feelings were superficial and the plot didn't really make sense. The side characters added nothing to the plot. The main couple had nothing in common and I didn't understand how they came to be a couple in the first place, as it's not even shown. Like everything else in the book, feelings are described, not shown. I usually like easy chick lits, but this was beyond horrid. I will forget it by tomorrow.

This was cute, but for me it was almost too short. The characters felt under developed, and I would have liked even more Alaska.
