I started this book and could not put it down, I had no intention of reading it in one day but I did. I enjoy Debbie Macomber's books, and this was a quick easy read.

Ughhhhh. Alaskan Holiday was my very first Debbie Macomber book and probably my last. I headed into this one super excited for a cute, small town romance book.
Instead, I got a shockingly boring book that only existed to frustrate me. I could not seem to get into the story at all, and the characters failed to connect with me.
Josie and Palmer were always battling with the reality of staying together. Josie wanted to be a big time chef, a dream that wasn impossible in the tiny town of Ponder. Palmer loves his small Alaskan town and never wants to leave. And yet, they can't stop thinking about a life with each other. It SOUNDS intriguing, yet it is very much not. The entire book, the two constantly fight or make assumption about each other.. Josie says so many rude things to people, yet it is so easily dismissed by everyone. And Palmer is continuously jealous and possessive over Josie.
Not to mention Jack. He probably irritated me most of all. Yes, Josie is a chef. But she is not obligated to cook for Jack 24/7. He literally had no other role than to demand for food. I know he was added into the book perhaps for a bit of comedy, but he just made me mad. Every time he talked to Josie, he was ordering her to cook him something. It came across in a way that I felt Jack was only upset about Josie leaving because she would no longer be cooking for him. (Literally the only reason he visits her later on in the book!)
I couldn't even root for the couple's issues to be resolved. I didn't even like them. I know some people really enjoyed this book, but it was not the book for me.

Sweet love story
I love a good short sweet romance and this one didn’t disappoint. I found myself not able to put this book down until the end to see if Josie and Palmer would find their happily ever after!

You know the lifetime/hallmark Christmas movies that we all love to watch this time of year despite impossible levels of cringe and zero amount of realism?.... this is the book version of that...
