I got this book as a birthday gift from a friend. She told me this is one of her favorite books and now I know why.

This was my first TJR read and I can say that she beautifully took us on this journey of love, self discovery and acceptance and I am in awe!

I thought that I was in for a love story, but this is by far one of my favorite reads of 2024 because it goes much deeper than that.

I kind of knew what the story was about so it was not a surprise to me when Jesse calls Emma and says he’s alive and coming home after years, right when she’s moved on and found love again and is engaged to Sam, but everything else from that point on was a surprise.
The story is not about who should Emma love and choose but it’s about who she was, is and wants to be in the future with each of these men.

I’m a true believer that not everyone that comes into your life is meant to stay forever and it took me years to understand that, years to understand that some people are in for a season, others for longer and it’s okay when they leave, the purpose they had for entering your life and impacting a part who you are has been done and they are free to go, even if it hurts. So imagine me watching Emma having to figure this out in I don’t know, weeks after her world has just been turned upside down. My God, her strength! The courage she has to stray true to herself, who she is and what she wants is inspiring.

But now to my character of the entire book: Sam.
Jesus, what a man! He is such an amazing human being. So understanding, patient, caring, selfless.. even when he was also hurting. He allowed her to be and do what she needed in that moment. He respected her and at the same time had boundaries set to protect himself.
I was in love with him since the first time he is introduced to us, he felt right.

Knowing that no experience in life is wasted. Everything we’ve been through has shaped us somehow and we’re only who we are because of the things we’ve gone through.

I highly recommend this book. WOW!
