Oh wow, so my brain has had a thing for mystery/thrillers recently and this was the next one on the list. So overall, I think it was a fine book. The twists and turns throughout the story weren't totally predictable, but I do find that I thought the story lines with timeline was a little disjointed at times. When it was clear that a flashback was taking place they worked really well, but there was a few times that I didn't think it did and it added to the confusion of the story.

The beginning was a bit slow but the ending was truly worth it!!!

I was iffy on this book, I started listening to it and struggled to get into it and it got returned to Libby. I kept wondering where it was going and what happened so I got it again. It is a slow first half or so, and I kept not being sure I cared but also kept listening. The set-up seems to take a long time, and I found Jess not that likable or interesting. The amount of times the smell of someone's sweat was mention was wild and annoying. It wasn't what I predicted so that's a plus, and it kept be guessing even when I thought I had figured it out. I enjoyed the switch in narrators, which helped break out some of the annoying bits of each characters point of view.

Coming off the back of another mystery/thriller (Verity by Colleen Hoover), The Paris Apartment was much more satisfying. It was less gripping, but I felt I understood the characters much better, even if I didn't particularly like most of them...especially Mimi's obnoxious whining. It was also more thrilling for its realism—I could imagine this story being true, even if it isn't. The voice actors for this multi-perspective audiobook were fantastic as well!

I loved this book.

It is (by far) my favorite of Lucy Foley’s so far.

The mystery really caught me off guard, and I loved every page.

There was a little bit of repetition that I personally found annoying, but this was a really great read. (& something about it reminded me of How to Get Away with Murder)

If there was now diversity, this would have easily been 5 stars. I loved the story and the twists. Most were predictable but there was one in particular I didn’t think about and was shocked by. The story felt like a mix between Only Murders in the Building and Twin Peaks
(the secret club/trafficking aspect)

I think this would be a really fun aspect for the author to play off of (Jess solving ~mysteries~).

The main gripe I have other than lack of diversity is the protest portion of the story. It doesn’t add anything interesting to the story nor is it necessary (imo).
