Almost as good as Pete the Cat and his White Shoes, this is perfect for storytime. Can't wait to make it into a feltboard!
Pete the Cat loves the four buttons on his shirt and even sings a song about them. When they gradually pop off we learn two lessons: subtraction and dealing with disappointment. When small things don't go our way, do we cry? "Goodness no...buttons come and go."
Sketchy bright watercolors.

Loved the counting aspect of this story! Worked great for my preschool children!
I have read this so many times in storytimes, I can't believe I didn't have it marked as read!
I guess this will just be the kind of series where I love every other book. Pete's buttons had me laughing out loud.
A great ending and another superb message: just keep on going and everything's groovy.

better than some of the other pete books because of the simple math and fewer ugly illustrations
Pete the cat is wearing his favorite shirt - the one with the four totally groovy buttons. But when one falls off, does Pete cry? Goodness, no! He just keeps on singing his song - after all, what could be groovier than three groovy buttons?
I love the song that goes along with this book! Find it here: www.harpercollinschildrens.com/petethecat
