I have read most of the Lux series, and I really liked it. I enjoyed this more as it was aimed at an older crowd.
Serena's best friend is killed and Serena herself is made a target. Hunter is charged with keeping her safe until someone decides what to do with her. And Hunter is...oh, just the best kind of bad boy.

Oozing danger and sex appeal, arrogant and rude, bossy (ooh and I love the bossy ones) and lethal, he is the epitome of HOTNESS!

Serena isn't some meek little frightened thing and I love that about her. She pushes Hunter and mouths off to him, doesn't let him boss her around (well, sometimes :) ) and makes her own decisions despite being afraid.
And her feisty attitude just makes Hunter hot, so that was a good time, too.
Super liked the story, we met some interesting characters along the way, I'm excited to see what will happen next.

Whoa! Are you saying the Luxen are actually the bad guys. Okay, I'm thinking of the original Lux series that this adult story is a spin off of. There was no way to read this and not refer back to the Lux stories. It is one of my most favored series so I was hoping that Obsession would capture and elicit the some of the same feelings. But of course I shouldn't have had any doubts because Jennifer L. Armentrout would so not, and could not do no wrong when it comes to her compelling and absorbing storytelling and world building.

Hunter is an arum who doesn't give a shit about humans. He could care less about the fragile species. When Hunter was asked to protect human Serena Cross she starts to stir emotions in him that he can't explain. Hunter is confused as to why he's so protective of Serena and wants to be around her.

Serena can't believe that there are aliens living on earth and the government knows about it, in fact, they help them assimilate with humans. Serena was informed by her best friend about the existence of aliens and she herself witnessed the murder of her friend by an alien. Now her life is in danger and she has to be put under the protection of Hunter, an alien. Even though she can see the dark side of Hunter, there is a side to him that seems so human. She knows it's dangerous, he's dangerous but she can't seem to fight the growing feelings she's having for him. She thinks she's crazy to be falling for an alien.

Thank you Ms. Armentrout for not writing the typical annoying female. Serena might have insecurities but she didn't dwell on them and she knew she could depend on Hunter to keep her safe. I loved the part after she was kidnapped from the post office by the bad Luxen's who wanted her dead; there was no doubt in her mind that her man would come for her. I was so proud of her.

Loved seeing how Hunter's and Serena's feelings for each other grew and how Serena's trust in him developed overtime. She was very brave and not outwardly freaking out about her situation, yes she had her worries but she was able to work through them. I liked that she went with the flow most of the time and didn't succumb to Hunter's controlling nature. Hunter was a bad as they come. He doesn't like many people and was ready to do what's necessary to rectify a difficult situation, that means killing anyone who gets in his way or annoys him.

This story was hot, hot, hot. I loved everything about it but now it's provoked a need for more, more adult versions of the series. It also has me wondering back to the Lux series and what's in store in the next installments. Obsession was a captivating, thrilling, seductive read etc.

P.S. I should say that you don't have have read the original series to read this. It stands on it's own perfectly.

Very boring and too long. This was a short story stretched into a novel.

A great book! Definitely different to the other lux books but I liked this book. I know Hunter is supposed to be kickass but i still couldn't help going awww! Quite a few times :)

DNF :*(

Me ha encantado la historia de hunter y serena con ganas de verlos en lux! y con lo que se va avecinar en origin que ganas de tenerlo en mis manos lajfñlkajsdfñlkjsaf

Oh mercy how I loved this book! Never ever did I think I'd love an Arum but darn if that JLA didn't make it so! Great spin off book of the Lux series. Be sure to read those before this one though. Man I never thought I'd say I enjoyed alien books but ahhh I love these! I need more of this series from JLA!
adventurous dark emotional mysterious medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix

Wow. First thing I gotta say about this book is that it is highly addictive, and so up my alley. Yes, the adult content made me really uncomfortable (one of the reasons for only 4 stars) but it was so interesting to read about Arum, and how they see the Luxen.

It's funny, while reading all the Lux books I always hated the Arum, as they were portrayed as "the bad guys", in this book though the Luxen were seen as the bad guys (as they were trying to kill the main character- yada yada yada), and I really liked the Arum.

And Hunter...

He has the shortest temper known to this planet.. and others. He is the most arrogant jerk but obviously, that's why I love him.

Another reason why I only gave this book four stars is that Serena and Hunter reminded me so much of Katy and Daemon, only a few years older. Apparently both Katy and Serena smell the same... whats up with the peaches? This takes place between Opal and Origin and I was so happy to see my beloved Daemon in this book (which I was really hoping for).
