Such a delightful revisit to the introduction of Tommy and Tuppence, an incredibly charming duo from Christie with a short series all to themselves. What I really like about this series — or rather, the idea of it — is that Christie ages up these two along with publication dates. So, by the end of the series (which consists of only five books, one of which is a short story collection), the sweet pair are in their 70s alongside the publication date of 1973.

I was both relieved and very pleased to find this story as enjoyable as when I first read it eleven years ago, and I regret not having stayed with the series at that time.

Audiobook, as narrated by [a:Emma Fenney|14080011|Emma Fenney|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png]: Fenney did a nice job with the narration — though her quippy American accent for the 1920s was a tad wearing, but easy enough to breeze past. Fenney did lend a lighthearted energy to this one that felt appropriately faithful to the story and its two leads.

If I was a bibliotherapist (and boy do I wish I was) I would recommend this book to anyone needing a good dose of British pluck. And if I go around calling everyone old bean for a while, Agatha Christie is to blame. Most excellent.

Never expected something like this from Agatha. Loved this action packed thriller.

First A. Christie I couldn't finish. Tuppence "opened her eyes wide" three times in about five pages. Lots of reporting on what happened, not Christie's usual amazing storytelling.

Not some of Christie's best work, but still a fun mystery.

Listened via Phoebe Reads a Mystery. Extremely satisfying adventure mystery!

Definitely a quality mystery and if you ignore the romantic cousin relationship I really have no complaints.

I like the characters of Tuppence and Tommy but the mystery itself is so-so. Still worth reading, but Poirot and Marple remain my faves.
