The latest reread as I make my way through the Discworld series! Pyramids is probably one of Pratchetts best stand alone books. It’s incredibly funny with some amazing comedic scenes - the Sphinx, the multiple wooden horses, etc… - that at the same time has a very well written plot.

The reveal about Dios was built up to very well with so many hints that you only really appreciate on a reread once you know the whole plot.

Another great Pratchett novel following a young pharo - to - be who is studding to be an assassin and his old (and crumbling) kingdom.

I'm not sure where I've heard/read the sphinx bit before, but I'm certain I have....
Maybe I do dimension-skip during economics after all

I have not read any of the Discworld books in order and I am finding that I enjoy the earlier works better. This is one of those earlier works that I love so much.
Even though it isn't set in any of the usual places or have any of the usual characters, it is classic Discworld. It is set in the equivalent of Ancient Egypt and uses the religions of the time and those spawned by the area to create a funny and smart story.
Book number seven is one of my more well liked Discworld tales.

Some unfortunate stereotypes, and still an almost entirely male cast, but this is the writing I read pterry for; much better than Sourcery or The Color of Magic.
