Honestly, it wins some points for originality, even if it was still utterly ridiculous. The book did a good job building up dread, which was enjoyable.

This was a fun read aloud with my hubby, the short chapters made it easy to fit in regardless of how much time we had before bedtime and the quick moving plot made it easy to want to read just one chapter more.

Filming a YouTube web series that is a cross between the X Files, Indiana Jones if you didn't find him likable, and a mysterious history show a group of 7 are looking for a long lost cavern in the Grand Canyon, that probably isn't there anyway, but in this show it is better to have looked and not found but keep asking questions than to actually find the thing they are looking for.

There are a lot of twists and turns (pun totally intended) in this book, and sometimes we could guess what would happen next and sometimes not. We really enjoyed it and stayed up late last night finishing it :)

4 stars to this Indiana Jones horror mash up about a conspiracy theory Youtube video group that is looking for a secret cavern in the Grand Canyon - what a premise!
It gripped me and I had a hard time putting it down - it was fast paced, with many cliffhanger chapter endings, snappy dialogue and fun characters.

I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes their adventure with a side of horror!

Wonderful premise, mysterious, tightly written and follows through without resort to trite answers. Completely worthwhile.

This book was totally different than the books I typically read. It was scary, bone chilling, and had me on edge the whole time. Until the third part. Although I was still on the edge of my seat, it kind of went off into somewhere that I didn’t quite understand.

It was still great and I highly predict that it will be a movie but I just have no idea what to think of it. It’s just... I don’t know.

Went into this one completely blind and finished it with a smile on my face. I absolutely loved this book. A group of researchers filming an episode of a TV show (think Josh Gates-style expedition) get trapped in a cave and some wild stuff starts happening. Less horror and more thriller but still underground in the dark for a large portion of the book.

The novel has adventure, likeable characters, humor, horror, sci-fi, survival, twists, turns, and everything in between. The combination of adventure/sci-fi/horror into one book was something I didn't know I needed in my life. The character development was phenomenal and I truly loved each of the main cast. I also really liked where the story went once things were discovered because it was not the direction I thought. The creepy factor turned up to an 11 and for a while I couldn't put the book down. I was very satisfied with the ending, too.

The ONLY thing I feel that would have improved it was more detail put into those last few chapters when the characters are trying to get out. They hear/run across some things that are just sort of vaguely described and a bit confusing. Other than that, it was a really FUN read.

If anyone watches any of Josh Gates' shows (Destination Truth, Expedition Unknown, etc.) you would absolutely love The Anomaly.

When Archaeologist and YouTube star Nolan Moore decides to do a new video at the Grand Canyon in search of a cave full of ancient treasures, he and his team are in for much more than they bargained for when they actually find it!

While searching the cave someone triggers a large round stone to cover the only way in or out thus beginning the shenanigans that begin to get weirder and more frightening as they try to find a way out.

The characters are well written, the story has a good flow to it and the descriptions of all the weird happenings are and strange. I was gripped by it and didn't put it down until I finished it as I, like the characters, wanted to know what in the actual fuck was going on! It was a long night of WTF's and 'Oh I see's'.

Thoroughly enjoyed it.

*Huge thanks to Michael Rutger, Bonnier Zaffre and NetGalley for this copy which I chose to read and all opinions are my own*
