Thereโs nothing worse than going into a book with high hopes and walking away disappointed. I was so excited for this one. It was easily my most anticipated of the series, but unfortunately, it just didnโt hit like I expected.
The pacing felt off to me. It had a slow start, picked up a bit, and then dragged again. I never fully felt gripped or immersed in the story. It felt like there was something missing throughout, and honestly, a bit gappy in the various subplots. It didnโt feel like a typical Elle Kennedy read. Sheโs a go-to author for me, and usually, I am immediately engrossed in her books. This one, not so much.
Character-wise, Charlie didnโt do much for me, and I felt pretty meh about her overall. Beckett was more enjoyable, but Will... I loved Will! He's been my fave all along. He made every scene he was in, but sadly, he didnโt get nearly enough page time. I kept wanting more of him. For a why choose, it kinda felt a bit like she chose, you know.
All that said, there were some standout moments and enjoyable parts that when it hit, it hit really well. And I will say, the plot twist caught me totally off guard. The absolute highlight, though: Dad chat. Absolutely iconic. Anytime the OGs pop up, I smile like a school girl. Logan, bringing out the absolute fan girl in me. I'm really excited for Blake's story for more of their dynamic. To top it off, we got my baby Hollis! I'm still sad, we didn't get a book for him ๐ Overall, I liked it for what it was, but I wouldnโt re-read it. It just wasn't the series standout I was hoping for.

I almost didn't read this book because I although I was a fan of The Graham Effect, I didn't really like the Dixon Rule. Also, I wasn't sure how I felt about a story featuring polyamory. I'm glad I decided to read it though, because I thought it was much better than the Dixon Rule.
I really enjoyed Charlie's growth throughout the book. I wish she had talked to her parents and opened up more (earlier) but I also understand that as a 20-something, she's trying to spread her wings and test her own independence.
My only complaint is that I wish we had gotten more for Will. I wasn't necessarily surprised by the ending, however I was disappointed that we didn't get more of his perspective leading up to his decision. I also was kind of disappointed that we never got an intimate scene with just Will & Charlie (despite multiple scenes with just Charlie and Beckett).
I appreciated that Will and Beckett remained best friends and that it never really turned into a throuple.

this was an interesting and fun book. I enjoy Elle Kennedys books, and it was a blast reading more about Will and Becket, and of course meeting Charlie (I liked her as a FMC) ๐๐
I liked that the book included POVโs from all three characters, and their own struggles and experiences helped strengthen their connection with each other.Iโm not sure if I liked the why-choose aspect, and the fact that they ended up as a throuple. I actually think Charlie and Beckett would make a cute couple, and that the sharing was mostly sexual (ofc with a bit of emotion)
But your girl isnโt hard to please, so of course this book made me giggle and kick my feet๐

โWillโฆShannon didnโt cheat on him.โ He stops, like heโs trying to find the right words.โShannon didnโt break his heart. She died.โ
