I have mixed feelings on this. On the one hand, I got through the book rather quickly and it was not exactly a pain to get through. But the actual content of it... Well it's not great. At all. I wouldn't say it's terrible or anything but there are some things that really rub me the wrong way.

So let's talk about those things.

Oh, by the way... there might he some SPOILERS from here on.

The first thing - which is also the most obvious one - is that this author kinda hates women. All of them are unlikable. From the first scene on it's clear that they're all annoying brats who just whine and complain all the time. l only like Mrs Higgins because she's a bad bitch who constantly yells at her sexist idiot son (he deserves it). Also Eliza gets better by the end because she becomes more independent from the men surrounding her.

The book skips some parts that would be interesting to read as well so that's annoying. Like, give me Eliza's training process you dipshit.

The last thing that bothers me is the format. This is a mixture between prose and drama and I can't help but feel like the author got lazy in the middle and said to himself : "I don't want to write a play anymore... let's just briefly explain everything else that happens in 15 pages of a borderline philosophical text."

Overall, this is not very good and I wouldn't recommend it. Just google Pygmalion effect and you'll get the message of the book without having to go through the pain of reading it.

Read this for English class. Did not expect to like it this much. I found Higgins so relatable- so what does that say about me? I don't know.
