I liked this book. The beginning sucked me in. The middle was interesting, and the end wasn't quite what I expected, but overall it was good. Not amazing, but good.

A beautifully written novel in a very heavy subject. Some of the passages are quite gruesome and violent.
Wow, "Little Bee" by Chris Cleave is a mind-blower. Well-written, believable characters, with an excellent plot and an ending I didn't see coming, but which made perfect sense.
Probably a little too harrowing for bedtime reading except for the most hardened.

I'd read a lot of good and a lot of bad reviews of this book, so when I saw it on the shelf at the library I had to pick it up. I agree it's not an inspirational, uplifting book it's pretty horrific what happens. I did really care about the characters and I think the writing was really well done. I couldn't stop reading it once I started it and finished it in 3 days, of course I was in doctors offices and waiting at the hospital, so I didn't have anything else to do. Any book I can't put down and I devour like that is a good book to me. It was an easy read and I'm glad I read it.
This book wasn't as fantastic as the back cover would have you think, but it was engaging. Interesting use of perspectives on an issue that is all too real in today's world. I'm watching The Visitor with my students, and there are some good parallels. I know I'm comparing apples to oranges, but I like the movie more.
This is a story about migration, told by two persons (alternated by chapter), and tackling the different points of view and experience. Very well structured and most of all : positive and joyful. For me it was a pageturner with a message, even for a book written in 2008 .
Ok but not great. Would've liked more on their relationship & kinship as women.

I read this book, because it's about a girl fleeing from Nigeria. I am now in Tanzania, and felt like I needed to read about something that gave me an African feeling.
The book was very sad and I had trouble finishing it. In the end I really wanted to know what happened to Little Bee. The book is serious, and a story like Little Bee's isn't funny it is serious. Be prepared when reading this book. I both got tears in my eyes, and I smiled. I really got the feeling of the cassava and the villages.

Interesting comparison of two different lives intertwined by extraordinary circumstances. I loved the story as told through Little Bee's eyes; not as much when viewed through Sarah's lens. In all honesty, Charlie was my favorite character ...
