This is probably one of the most eye-opening and heartbreaking book I have read this year. I am very happy that I read it because it brings awareness to the life of an immigrant or asylum seekers. The characters are complicated and flawed. Please read all the triggers before you read this story.

I just finished this book and am still too sad to write more than it is excellently and beautifully written and should be required reading for citizens of developing nations.
Ah, Little Bee, you are beautiful! Everything about Little Bee by Chris Cleave felt beautiful. The language he used was so amazing. I'm not sure I've ever read imagery as perfectly imaginable as this. And, there was no way to not love Little Bee. And, Sarah, for all her faults, was a character you could still feel for and relate to in a situation where I would typically quickly pass judgement. I don't want too give to much away, I will just say this book was perfectly unexpected!
Done and LOVED it! Wanted to read a five star book again...and, for me, this was it!
The book jacket hyped it up too much, I was expecting something really magical. It was good but not amazing.
Wow. I read Little Bee in two days--it's intense and absorbing. The whole secrecy part about "we don't want to tell you too much about this book" is completely unnecessary (and a tad annoying): the book stands on its own as a morally brave, devastating, but uplifting work without such marketing hoopla.
Reading Little Bee is a bit like getting hit in the stomach. The story raises moral issues that no one should have to face--but it's also funny and loving and redemptive.
Whew. I think I need some fluff!

Unbelievably uplifting. Chris Cleave has a way of writing that makes you really connect with and root for the characters.
The book is written as though Little Bee is having a conversation with you. At times, it is hard to read and the circumstances are horrible. But as Little Bee says, "In a few breaths' time I will speak sad words to you. But you must hear them the same way we have agreed to see scars now. Sad words are just another beauty. A sad story means, this story-teller is alive."
Love. Would absolutely recommend.

This was a good read, I really liked Little Bee as a narrator, the characters were well-developed and the writing was excellent. He really developed the themes in the book and I enjoyed "hunting" for them.
I was really nervous to read what actually happened to them on the beach, the suspense was palpable--I stopped and put the book down several times trying to get to that pivotal point. That only happened with one other book for me--The Road by Cormac McCarthy. However, I thought the second half of the novel lost it's steam and was not as gripping as the beginning of the book.
I would recommend it, although not with the huge hype that got me to read it. It's a good book, lots to think about, but not so astounding that I would give it 5 stars.
