I guess I learned a lot. I never want to think about this again. I am a coward

I enjoyed this book but was somewhat disappointed by last 1/4 or so of it. The writing is fresh and powerful, and I liked the device of the "girls back home" to express Little Bee's experience of western culture.

The writing is incredible. So much fantastic imagery, and I loved Little Bee’s narration. It’d be a perfect book if it didn’t leave me feeling like there was a bit of a white savior thread throughout.

Definitely not my favorite read. Potentially gripping story marred by poor editing, inconsistent story and characters I didn't feel for. Great discussion, however.
