This book had 5 important steps for living a happy and fulfilled life. I liked the idea to combinate these steps with minimalism and see it like that. There are some really good suggestions how to start changing an unhealthy and unhappy life into a good one. I liked this book and will reread it when I feel I need the suggestions. All in all a short good and helpful book. I recommend it to everyone.

This is good for beginners, it has all the basics. However I’d recommend just reading [b: Everything That Remains: A Memoir by the Minimalists|20370505|Everything That Remains A Memoir by the Minimalists|Joshua Fields Millburn|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1388667510s/20370505.jpg|26587112] if you’re not completely clueless to the minimalist concept. I think that book covers everything this does as well as is a more enjoyable and relatable read across the board. This was still filled with good info and lots of suggestions for where or how to start.

Good, simple read. Minimalism is a lot more than just throwing things away and shopping at Goodwill - which surprised me. It is a holistic lifestyle to bring meaning into your life. I was surprised that only the authors personal experiences were deliberately used as arguments and a path for minimalism. No mention of research studies, the transcendentalists, and nomadic tribes.

this has affected me to the point where i woke up and got rid of 70% of my things. i was already a minimalist, now i feel like i'm minimalism Goddess lol.

This book just annoyes me.

The writers feel TO entitled to tell you how you should live your life, without backing it up with science. And I feel it's a messy whole and the writers come across as fickle. 
You must do this. You must change your diet. You should excercise. You should ditch all the people you dont aline with. You shouldn't ditch people because different perspectives are valuable.

Its messy and annoying. 

I dont want dietary advice from random people. And I dont want someone who isnt a doctor or other expert and that has never met me in my life tell me I should do x, y and z. I am interested to read about their experiences with minimalism. But that is a different book than this is.

Two stars

I loved their documentary on Netflix, and that's what led me to this book. Although the concept was interesting and is a subject close to my heart, I feel like it could have been written better with less redundancy and more oomph. It could have been presented with less emphasis on the personal experience of the authors, and more emphasis on the process (without having to refer the readers too frequently back to the website of the authors). The "five values" felt too vague and too abstract, and this book failed to do what most great books do. It failed to change your life.

It's well written, but it belongs among self help books that fails to be critical and instead writes purely one sided. Most books of a similar genre written on a scientific foundation would have included several views with critical evaluations, something this type of self help should borrow.

It's a short little book. I'm fascinated by minimalism, but while 8 of us live here it's an exercise in futility.

This was the "why" not the "how".
