This is my second time reading this book and, if possible I love it even more than the first that put it in my top five books I read in 2022. The love and hurt/comfort and healing that takes place is absolutely everything! The difference in the MC's personalities is vast and yet I love each one dearly. It's such a skill that Nora has. I may not have read all their books, but a good number and almost all their MCs vary greatly from each other while being completely full and human. That is not something all writers can do!

Her understanding of BDSM is also something I don't see often. Though it's pretty high protocol. You do NOT want to get me started on Doms that require their friends to use honorifics. I generally avoid people who do that. However, obviously I adore Ford. He just prefers high protocol and I try to respect that and not be annoyed. lol

For those who prefer strict top/bottom
Spoiler even though Ford stays the Dom, he is vers and a "size queen". Also, at the end he does submit to Jathan for specific scenes. That is more difficult for me and honestly, I skip those scenes and it's fine.

If you love hurt/comfort, sweetness that will overflow your heart, and all the love (and kink, you've got to like kink for this one :P ) this is a book for you!

I was a little nervous to read this because plots involving abuse-recovery are so hard to do well. But I should have known Nora Phoenix would come through for me. This was excellent, and I never felt like either man was rushed to feel comfortable having a sexual relationship. I also enjoyed the BDSM interests that Jathan brought to the table, because they felt more complex than what I've read before.

I hated their names. Especially with the audiobook, when he says thiery sometimes it sounds like daddy and every time it happened it annoyed the hell out of me. I hate when author pick character’s names that don’t fit in the world they’ve created. It’s not like this is a fantasy novel. I feel like you should be allowed one weird name per book!

I just finished another book by the author and she had a weird name that distracted me then too!!

The story itself was good. I liked watching the boys open up to Ford eventually. I really enjoyed Jathan and Ford’s interactions. I’m not into age play which is why I skipped book 2 in the series, so I continued reading for Jathan. God I wish she just named him Jason

Hurt/Comfort is one of my favorite tropes, and this one was so good! Jathan and Thierry have been through a hellish experience after being held against their will by a monster who called himself a Dom. They end up with Ford because their rescuers knew he could take care of them better than anyone else. I loved watching the boys learn to trust Ford, and I also loved watching Ford struggle with understanding why he never wanted a long-term relationship, quickly can't imagine life without these boys. They challenge him and make him doubt his own instincts, but they give him so much more in return. Cap off this dynamic with some super-steamy scenes and this ends up as one of my all-time favorites!

So heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. The chemistry between all three MCs is great, and they get a well-earned and well-deserved HEA together.
