Amazing

Really enjoyed this book. Couldn't put it down! Pretty easy to read as well! So glad Lilly got Tips in the end (and Adie)

This is such a beautiful story. I definitely recommend it. It's fast paced and a nice break from my normal fantasy / sci-fi go to.

This one was okay. It's a children's book focusing on the life in ww2 following a girl named Lilly who has to move out of her home and to her uncle's farm, so that American soliders can use her village as a training ground for the war. She loses her bellowed cat Tips though and since she cannot find her she is forced to leave her behind in the war zone. The two end up being reunited though so the story does have a happy ending. The story is simple and short, the illustrations are nice and I also like the characters decently enough. I've read a few other books written by Morpurgo and this one just seems to be lacking something compared to the other books he wrote though, not sure what it is but it certainly doesn't have as much charm as the rest of his books do.

Loved this story. Enjoyed reliving the war through the eyes of the mischievous Lilly. Loved the ending

Being a fan of WarHorse after an introduction by my cousin, I can never resist picking up a book by this author. I thought this would mostly be about a cat, but how wrong I was. I know bits about the war but its never occurred to me that soldiers practiced the landings somewhere before actually going off to do them, and the fact that these practice areas were evacuated. The part of the story relating to Tips was easy to relate to, initially I thought you silly girl entering a dangerous area to look for your cat, but then remembered when my cat went missing for a day, and how distraught I was, walking up and down the road shaking a treat box and contemplating breaking into the building site opposite, just in case she had got locked in somewhere. The only negative comment is that I was not too keen on the ending.

Probably would've enjoyed it a lot more a few years ago. Nice story though.
