Brendan Slocumb is one of my newest favorite authors. I'm not usually one for mysteries and thrillers but the storytelling is so engaging and the social issues are so deftly woven in, I couldn't put it down. I was wishing I could go back and read this in a college lit class, I just wanted to talk about it with other people.

I enjoyed Symphony of Secrets. For most readers, I'd say it's worth a read. The music theme intrigued me, as it's not a theme I generally reach for.
That being said, why not 5 stars? As with most books that alternate between two timelines, I found myself preferring one of them. And when that happens, I find myself growing impatient during the other.
However, the book was beautifully written and the topic is an important one that makes you wonder... how often in history has something like this happened?
