This book was perfection, I loved it so much. We need more wealthy men being submissive. Or any men for that matter.

Kate is living her life in Chicago, doing her job, paying her bills, but one day she catches the attention of her CEO, Mikhail Volkov. He is instantly drawn to her, because she exudes a natural authority, and he is dying to be used by her. He offers her money in exchange of a sexual companionship. Kate has several debts to reimburse, so she accepts.
Kate, growing up, was considered “white trash”, she and her twin sister Angel were neglected by their parents, and that childhood made Kate be conscious of social classes, and she is very aware of the differences between her and Mikhail. Mikhail grew up in an orphanage in the ex-Soviet Union, but he was sent to the USA to study, he became a computer engineer and then he created his own successful company.
I think Mikhail Volkov might be the first original billionaire that I encounter in romance. First because is submissive: Kate often reflects on the fact that is he is so intimidating, impressive and powerful from the outside, but when they are together, he is totally devoted to obeying her, whether she decides to punish him or to reward him. Then because one of his issues was that he: it could have been very cliché, like we often see in romance, and most of the time I don’t buy it, but here the way that it was written and how his feelings were explained made perfect sense.
Kate is such a good heroine, because she embodies a duality that a lot a women must deal with: she has a tough exterior, she can be authoritative, she must be independent, but she craves to be taken care of. And shoutout to Kate, who is smart enough to accept gifts from a billionaire without fussing (Bella Swan and Anastasia Steele, I’m talking to you).
I think that Heather Guerre has a gift to write realistic characters. There is no need for them to be overly dramatic to be moving, their personality is enough for us as reader to be engaged in their story.

Bonus point for the discussions about how Mikhail could use his power to help a better distribution of wealth.I mean wow….. this book absolutely ATE. Like I couldn’t put it down and she may be one of my top fav characters. I don’t think I will ever shut up about it.
