I am still trying to process how much I loved this book. This is a stand-alone novel featuring some transactional sex (it is mildly linked to the previous book in the series). It features a billionaire of Russian descent. After a brief interaction with one of his employees, a 30-year old woman who is struggling financially and grew up in poverty, he proposes to pay her a lot of money to fulfill his femdom fantasies.
One of the most surprising aspects of this book is the discussions about whether billionaires should even exist, as the female main character has a lot of feelings about this. I found those discussions surprisingly well-balanced and realistic.
For anyone worried about the potential grossness of a billionaire paying a struggling woman for sex, I feel like this book really avoided those pitfalls. The male main character is really desperate to give her all the money, gifts, and orgasms she can possibly take, so in a lot of ways, it feels like she has all the power (which is both of their kinks, so it works out). I also love how the female main character was more than willing to spend his money without feeling bad about it. It was a refreshing change from all the martyrdom a lot of heroines seem to suffer from. She strikes a really interesting balance between being openly materialistic and also trying to bankrupt the hero through charitable giving.
Also, the sex scenes are so amazingly good. I don't know how graphic I can get here, but especially if you're into descriptions of male pleasure....phew.
All in all, this books scratches a lot of itches I didn't know I had. Heather Guerre is putting out so many books that feel very different from anything else on the romance market right now, and I cannot wait to read more!
I received an ARC from the author, but the review is my own opinion.

This was such a surprise to me! I initially downloaded this because I was looking for a quick read and some steam - and while I got all of that I also stumbled upon a book with a lot of love and heart.
Mikhail was so clueless in the most endearing way. It was so obvious to the reader that he had fallen in love with Kate, but because of his upbringing he truly believed he wasn’t capable of love or being loved that he didn’t even know he’d fallen.

This was a little surprise. Femdom is not something I'm interested in, but the writer did a great job with the characters and crafted a delightful little story that sucked me in and paid off. Romance has so many badly written books that when something well thought out comes along, I'm shocked.
Didn’t care for the side plots or characters but the MC’s were great. Grovel, desperation, fem dom was HOT

After hearing many romance podcasters/BookTok-ers talk about Heather Guerre's work, I started with this one. And the hype was correct. Guerre is very deft in her explorations of power.

Rating 4.5/5
Removed half a star for family involvement to show the MMC his true feelings
Kept stars for: submissive MMC and dominant FMC, billionaire romance
At first this started slow and I assumed it was the role reversal of Fifty Shades of Grey. But I picked it up again at 11pm last night and read it until 4am then again from 8-10 am - I couldn’t put it down. I could have read about their sub/dom relationship forever. I absolutely loved when she was catching feelings and when she thought he was reciprocating them until he offered her a full time job as his mistress instead. My only complaints were that the author teased us that he had a plug and she didn’t use it…until the epilogue. I would have looooved to see a pegging scene but I’ll live. This book was too good once it got going.

Femdom romance. I really enjoyed this. I feel I’m starting to get back to reading.
