Ah, the infamous Kyo book. The real turning point into the emotional. Though as I said before, there’s still a lot more emotion in the first couple books than I remember. You ever on the verge of tears because of emotions about a fictional character? For example, Kyo Sohma... this omnibus also means that the first Kisa chapter is in the same book as Kyo’s first flashbacks about his mom, which creates an interesting parallel/comparison between them.
Yuki fan club still bores me, though I recognize now that they’re really more of a satire of such things played straight in other mangas. I mean the entire chapter with Hana is just her ripping the whole concept apart

This volume holds some very important points of development for Yuki, Kyo, and Kagura. There are even some smaller (but still important) ones for Hatori, Kisa, and Ayame.
Honestly, I think I preferred this part of segment of Fruits Basket over the anime version. Kyo is absolutely precious and it's much easier to see Shigure's god complex as it relates to those in his life. (That is, you can see his scheming better.)
I love the cast of characters in this volume, which is saying something because Shigure is usually repulsive to me.

This is one of those series where you can just tell the author knows where it’s going, and with every volume I want to know more and more where it’s going to go.

I really enjoyed this volume of the story. Again, compared to the (first) anime the depth is so much greater in each character and relationship. I actually teared up during Kyo's moment despite knowing it was coming. The emotions were raw and compelling as well as enjoyable. I can't help but love each character more.
