I feel like I just got punched in the heart and put back together đ
I waited far too long to read this book! I waited because I have a feeling it would bring me to my knees and I was not wrong! I know Iâll be hard pressed to ever find anything Jewel writes and not like it, however this book gave me pause for far too long, so yesterday I picked it up, and I didnât put it down until I was finished. It hurt, I cried and I laughed and I was absolutely incredulous that two people whoâs souls were intended so deeply could part, but as a mother I also understood. We live in a cruel world, itâs only fair that love would being these two people back together despite their tragedy.
I can see where this is going (i.e. loss of child) and I'm just not in the headspace for this right now.
This was an incredible book. It made me laugh. it made me cry, multiple times. It made me so angry. And it warmed my heart.
This is a book about a divorced couple, Tatum and Emmett, who have experienced "the unimaginable " and their journey of grief and healing. It is a second-chance romance. But unlike any I've ever read before.
This is a story that will definitely take some time to get over. But I'm so glad I read it. It's one of the best books I've read, ever.
This was my first time listening to Connor Crais and I loved him. He brought out the charm, vulnerability, and emotions in the characters so beautifully. A perfect casting choice.

I donât believe that the FMC REALLY loved the MMC given the level of hate she displayed to her husband (I know, the circumstances are messed up, but still). Then again, the MMC made some INTERESTING choices too. This is messy melodrama with lots of repetition, but itâs entertaining enough.
Connor Crais.......makes this audiobook come to life. So good. This is definitely a book that you just need to go in completely cold. Don't read the synoposis...just dive in.
Predictable story line but god this tugged on my heart strings and brought tears to my eyes. Beautifully written.
I think I knew from very early on that this was going make my heart beat just a little bit faster.
Told in then and now, this story spoke of a deep love that hung on my a thread through the most challenging life circumstances.
Then: When Emmett and Tatum first meetâŚit is probably one of the best meet cute scenes Iâve read. Their chemistry flew right off the pages. Emmett knew what he wanted. And He convinced Tatum to give him a chance.
Now: Not as easy of a story. We are taken to current times and see them both dealing with the deepest tragedy. My heart broke. Emmett was a class act! This was a deep dive into grief and healing.
Beautiful story.

I read this book with a knot in my throat, my heart breaking for Emmett. Never before have I read a book about a love so selfless and generous. He met the love of his life in a bar, when she arrived for a blind date with a red-headed guy called âCodyâ. Emmett had red hair and no way would he let this beautiful woman out of his life for a tardy date. He posed as Cody, took her to drink hot chocolate in another place, entertained her with his random facts of nerdiness. At the end of the date, he confessed, she got mad, she got over it and dubbed him âEmmett the Thiefâ.
When Tatum was giving birth to their daughter Lucy, she made Emmett promise to always love Lucy more, in case anything happens. He promised and years later had to deliver on that promise.
A tragic event happens, and for Lucy, he takes a decision to love her more, and in so doing, destroys all that he lives for, all that he loves.
âI lost everything to save Lucy, and in spite of the pain I felt in my chest at that moment, the tears threatening my eyes, I knew it was the right choice. It was the only choice.â
This story was so heartbreaking, so angsty, and at the same time uplifting. Never had I read a male character who loved so completely, who loved a woman more than himself.
âI want you. I want Lucy. I want everything I wanted the day I met you. But I love Lucy more than us, and I love you more than me.â
There are no words to describe how emotionally this book affects you. At the same time I cried for Emmett, I was also mad at Tatum. How could she not realize the uniqueness of this man, of this love? I hated her sometimes, pitied her other times. And in the end, the heroine of this story was Lucy. Awesome and courageous, she was the light that finally lead Tatum and Emmett to their second chance HEA.
Days after I read this book, I still get the knot in my throat, I get teary and emotional. Itâs like the ideal man, the ideal love, the love that gives, never takes, and in the end, its only goal is the happiness of those he loves. Magnificent!
