This book has great asexual representation! The mystery is not too hard to solve, but it's explored in a fun and engaging way. I enjoy the different moral alignments of the characters and how they affiliate and differ depending on the worlds that drew them in. Jack is a particular favorite.

I read this as  a Book Club recommendation. The start of it felt very promising but about half way through I felt like the pace changed and it became less of an ethereal romp through a boarding school populated by children who have entered magical worlds, and more of a humdrum murder mystery.

I love the representation of diverse sexuality and neurodiversity and Disability rep in Seanan McGuire's books, but the actual plot of this story didn't grab me as much as the setting and characters.

It felt a bit like Wednesday Adams visits Willy Wonka, (some fae scary energy there) and then they spend half a book trying to figure out who is offing the Oompaloopas.

Worth a read but I need to learn not to get my hopes up.

I would’ve enjoyed a few more pages to expand some detail so it’s less rushed. The ending is good but would’ve loved what was being set up instead of it.

Loved this story and I feel like it's the start to a great series. Immediately interesting and intriguing. Mysterious and a bit dark. Fantastic representation. Quick read, and great narration on audio.
