5 stars. I loved every moment of this. It’s an age gap, toaster oven romance with a lot of well done and well written spice. Also, no third act break up which I’m always appreciative of. Claudia and Scarlett meet at a gay club and have a one night stand. When Claudia’s daughter comes home to visit she brings her friend who just so happens to be Scarlett.

There’s a lot of sneaking around which would usually lead to a lot of angst and big drama but nope. This book wasn’t like that because both characters were so mature and honest with each other. Claudia was nervous about coming out to her children and Scarlett was patient and understanding which was so lovely. I loved them both as individuals and thought they were perfect together. Great chemistry and such a wonderful romance between them. I also really liked the side characters of Claudia’s kids and her best friend. This was my first book by this author but I will definitely be picking up more because the was fantastic.

I think Meryl Wilsner's Mistakes Were Made is still my favourite book in this subgenre, but I still really loved this. The only thing holding it back from a five star rating is the poor grammar throughout the book. Still, the story was more than good enough for me to ignore it. Oh, and Scarlett and Claudia are the absolute sweetest and must be protected at all costs.

Reading this book felt like watching a television drama, but I mean that in the best way. The relationships felt real and sincere, even with the drama, and it felt reassuring to understand that life just happens sometimes but with the right support you can make the most of it. I really loved all of the characters and all of the dramatic tension. Even with all the drama I couldn't stop laughing.
