I downloaded Relentless by Robin Parrish for free on my Kindle in early March. It is the first book in The Dominion Trilogy, and is listed by Amazon in two separate categories: Mystery and Religious Fiction.

I picked up the book because I like to read Mysteries. Unfortunately there was little mystery to be had...It took me a month to actually finish reading it.

The plot was very slow and cumbersome, and I didn't particularly like the main character. The momentum didn't pick up until I had read roughly 85% of the book. (And believe me it was a chore just getting that far.) The few real action scenes that were in the book were decently done and well paced, but that was the only thing I actually enjoyed reading.

Needless to say, I won't be picking up the other books in the series.

'Relentless' would make an excellent film; it is so visual. However, I cannot recommend it as a book to anyone, especially proofreaders. The spelling errors, layout issues, and downright vocabulary problems ('metal grinded against metal'. GRINDED? Oh, puh-lease!) - these all contribute to an agonising read.

This book reads like something written as a NaNo novel (challenge of writing a 50,000-word novel in one month). On the challenge you are warned that some of your pages will be absolute rubbish, but fanfiction is allowed because you won't be *printing and distributing* something that infringes on copyright. I agree with some of the other reviewers on Goodreads that this copies things like X-Men; the motto is taken directly from 'Galaxy Quest'...all of this would be acceptable in a privately-written novel, but in a book that is distributed by Amazon?

An interesting plotline, but I have the strangest feeling it has been done before...

Intriguing story, but not enough to convince me to continue reading the series.

It was easy to get wrapped up in and kept a fast pace, but it really was relentless, never slowing down or giving a second to breathe without some kind of conflict, even just familial arguments. Overall, it just made me anxious.

I thought it was an interesting plot and the other books in trilogy may shed more light on the nature of this identity switching known as Shift.

Two stars for effort and a wonderful idea. But the injuries, man! All of the main characters get maimed several times over, with all the gory descriptions. Sorry - too much for me!

I had a hard time reading this book. The plot was not one that captured my attention and the writing was not on par with other authors I enjoy. I won't be finishing the books in the series.
