This is the book I've been waiting for. It's perfect no matter how much it little you know about gender, but you're ready to support the trans & nonbinary folks in your life or help folks better support you if you're trans. It also 100% shuts down the (non)debate about trans folks in sports - Five enthusiastic stars.

It’s hard to read nonfiction on weeknights after draining days, so I made a point to finish this fantastic book about gender over the weekend. I loved Schuyler Bailar’s Obie Is Man Enough and started following him on IG. He is an educator and advocate and I’ve often thought of taking his seminars some day. I dreamt the other night that I misgendered someone and had to apologize. I know that this book helped me to continue to reckon with the transphobia I’ve been conditioned to. Highly recommend.

This is partly a memoir and partly an educational resource on gender identity. It’s told with a great deal of kindness and compassion as Schuyler generously shares his own experiences.

This is a heartfelt read that is part encyclopedia, part memoir. As someone familiar with transness, the book started fairly slow, but as Schuyler’s story and experiences took up more time later in the book, I found myself enjoying it more and more. Certainly an incredible resource for learning about transness as well as tough conversations about identity.
