There’s another cliffy, which is expected. There are 8 books in the series, but I think the fifth one will conclude Finley and Carrick’s story.
The Evolution of Fae and Gods by Sawyer Bennett
Chronicles of the Veil #3
If you have not read books one and two of this series, I highly recommend you do so now before opening book three. This is definitely a series that must be read in order to be fully appreciated. In this book more information is gleaned, Carrick and Finley move their relationship up to the next level, and a whole lot happens that furthers the story and moves the characters toward what Fate has in store for them.
What I liked:
* Finley: strong, capable, sometimes makes dangerous immature choices, knows she wants Carrick and tells him so, is able to put her duty before her needs, is a good friend, is growing on many levels.
* Carrick: ancient but well preserved, a demi-god, gorgeous, brilliant, lethal, alpha, a good friend, loves deeply, intriguing.
* Zaid: a friend of Carrick’s that more is learned about him in this book with backstory that included meeting his father, I have a feeling there is even more to Zaid than has been revealed so far.
* Maddox and Lucien: “brothers” to Carrick, and also demi-gods – intriguing – wonder if they will each have a book of their own in the future.
* Myles and Rainey: best friends and roommates of Finley helping out where they can.
* Finding out, along with Finley, the magic and skills that she is learning to tap into.
* The world building and how it is progressing.
* The lighter moments that occurred from time to time - humor helps to break up intensity.
* The steamy moments scintillated and were in keeping with the story.
* Finding out more about Finley’s twin.
* Finding out more about Kymaris and her plots and plans.
* That so many in the story get along so well.
* Knowing that there will be two more books to look forward to
* Pondering what the prophecy may actually be, how the god/desses will impact the series…and what will happen next.
What I didn’t like:
* Kymaris: evil dark fae with a cunning ruthless plan that needs to be thwarted.
* What probably happened to Arwen in Faere.
* Knowing that a whole lot more evil shenanigans will happen before good (hopefully) overcomes evil.
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read moore in this series? Definitely
Thank you to the author and InkslingerPR for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I’ve been feeling “angsticipation” ever since I finished the third installment of the Chronicles of Stone Veil. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series because I know in my bookish bones that it’s epic and it’ll go straight to my favorites list.
As with the previous book, The Evolution of Fae and Gods picks up right where the previous book left off. Evil is not only after Finley, it’s goal is to rule the world. Forcing Finley, Carrick and the rest of their motley crew into a deadly race against time to figure out a way to save it.
Even though there are truths Carrick has yet to reveal to Finley, trust between them is no longer a question as their relationship continues to evolve. Their attraction is undeniable and the romance is shaping up to be epic.
Finley continues to grow and come into herself while Carrick’s character is further explored along with the supporting individuals who help push along this amazing story full of thrilling action, suspenseful plot twists and delicious romance. I can’t say enough about this book. The plot, the pace, the world building, the characters, the setting, the romance are all skillfully weaved into this compelling story that keeps getting better.
The Evolution of Fae and Gods is book #3 of Chronicles of the Stone Veil series by Sawyer Bennett who skillfully recounts events from the previous books in case you missed it, but it’s recommended to read them in order. It is told from both points of view leaning towards the heroine’s side and ends with a massive cliffhanger. Genres: Paranormal Romance | Fantasy Tropes: Alpha hero | billionaire hero | kick@$$ heorine

“… through it all, he has stood strong by my side. Something has deeply changed between me and the man I once despised, and all it took was a kiss of provocation for both of us to feel it. I know deep in my soul we’re being guided by destiny, but I don’t know if I can trust it. He is holding something back, and I fear the consequences could be deadly once his truth is revealed…”

There are too many reasons to borderline dislike the heroine in this series.
At the cliff-hanger ending, I don't overly dislike her, but I do think it's time she gets her shit together, and focus.

Spoiler
She has another freakin' TSTL moment in this volume! Is this the formula for these books? The heroine makes impulsive and reckless decisions that puts herself right in the center of dangerous situations - even taking along her two remaining best friends to make it truly exciting? Granted, this time it was her idiot friend's idea, but hasn't she already had sufficient experience with making bad choices to at least try NOT to keep making them? She seems so childish at times, becoming easily distracted by everything other than what she's supposed to be focused on. She's the "key" to this world-changing prophecy, yet she seems to be the least involved in figuring it all out. She decides she wants something, and everything else takes a backseat for her, even her role in the prophesy. At the cliff-hanger ending, I don't overly dislike her, but I do think it's time she gets her shit together, and focus.
The epic continues... There is so much to learn and so much still completely unknown. I can't wait for the next installment.
Trust me, I know longer series can be tough to stick with, but I'm 100% invested in this one! Book 3 is THE book everyone has been waiting for, trust me, it's sooooooooo worth it.
We simply we get more of everything in Book 3 and now there's a fight against time. And that will put you on the edge of your seat for this entire read. I honestly have no idea what the end game will be because Sawyer keeps throwing all sorts of things at us.
Finley is coming around more into herself and constantly learning about this world that is so new to her. I'm really loving her character and she's such a badass!
Carrick, Carrick, Carrick! L-O-V-E him! We get soooo much more of Carrick this time and more questions answered. Not everything is quite revealed, but you'll start to understand why he's doing what he's doing.
Romance and steammmmmmm, it has arrived! Grab your fans, but Carrick is smoothhhhhh ;-)
Honestly, I was skeptical of the pacing, but it's soooo fitting for their storyline. And from here on out, things will be taking off rather quickly especially with the way this one ended. Killing me with these cliffhangers, but thankfully we don't have to wait long.
I'll be recommending this series soooo much, it's an absolute must read fantasy romance fans!

Book 3 continues the journey of Finley, Carrick and their little scooby gang.
Finley and Carrick finally build some trust and their relationship moves to the next level. It was a slow process to get them to this point, but they finally feel like a team.
Finley learns more about her past and her own powers. They find some answers about what happened to her sister, but Finley is not willing to let go of the fact she believes her sister is still alive (and most likely in the Underworld).
The evil plan to take over earth begins to take shape and Finley, Carrick and their friends are in the hunt to find answers that will thwart this evil plan.
Book 3 ends with Carrick revealing some things to Finley. This was predictable and nothing I hadn’t already guessed. But, just as the truth comes out, the Demi-God is whisked away by one of the Gods leaving Finley without Carrick and lots of unanswered questions.
