This is book 3 in the series and just like the others, it picks up right where the previous left off.

In this instance it is Dark Fae Fallon trying to kill Finley. Of course Carrick makes it in time to save her from her doom. Though One Bean is done for. Completely destroyed.

They learn the Fae’s real name is Kymaris, Queen of the Underworld. This leads to more questions needing to be answered... like how The Queen escaped the underworld and now is on Earth.

They find out that Finley had a Guardian Angel of sorts, a Custodia angel. Finding her was simple, as she was already in her life. Her “aunt” Tina, or Sarvel, who showed up with guardianship papers after Finley’s father died. She told them the story of the night she was born and how she saw the switch with the Changeling.

The Stratherton’s call Finley because they have not been able to get a hold of Fallon so she agreed to meet with them. She gave Lucien, Carrick’s brother, the slip and went off to meet them. Of course Carrick found out and took her home in a fury. I understand that he has a short fuse with her constant need to put herself in danger and never think things through but I can’t stand the way he speaks to her and how she essentially forgives him. Anyways... they take their relationship further after that little mishap and now are romantically involved.

She does tell him he needs to take the leash off of her and she’d be more likely to listen to him and not put herself in danger. He agrees but of course she lets Rainey talk her into spying on Kymaris. So much for being smart but at least Maddox agreed to join in.

They creep up on Kymaris’ property and come across an orgy sacrifice that no one understands. Finley is disgusted by what she saw but now they have more to look into. Like the purpose of that ritual.

They find a sorcerer named Otto Von Schmidt, or Ozigeor, who gave Kymaris the changeling ritual and quite possibly more.

This whole book is an information gathering read. They search for people and items and only come up with more questions in the end.

I did enjoy this book most so far because the story kept moving along. No over descriptiveness, just relationships growing and flowing with the storyline.

Things I enjoyed
1. The thought of Myles in his BDSM get up
2. Anything Maddox
3. Rainey and Zaid’s relationship
4. More information on Zaid and seeing his father. Seeing what he’ll do to get on Zaid’s good side
5. The truth Carrick finally spit out... though how the book ended I was like damn it!

The twists, the turns...the cliffhanger. Okay, this one wasn’t so bad, because I know it’s not the end, but those twists were something else. And yeah, there might have been a little swooning...I’m more than ready for the next book!

Like a piece of art, this series is taking shape and the artwork is starting to shine through. This third book in the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series is jammed packed with action, information, passion and emotion. We have arrived at the tipping point in the series where we really gain momentum, this book in particular, was very hard to put down!

Right from the start it was fast paced and it never really slowed down. Not only do we gain more information on Finlay's prophecy, but as Finlay and Carrick are emotionally getting closer we get a more indepth look into Carrick's life and his background, humanizing the man behind the demigod. Carrick and Finlay also become closer as they search out information to help the prophecy and their close group of friends and family become an even tighter knit group as that information brings more weight to light and what the prophecy's end will really mean.

The plot as we learn it is absolutely mindblowing as each puzzle piece falls into place. I'm completely blown away as the grand scheme comes to light and each layer is slowly peeled away. While everything is amping up, with the information that is revealed in this book, I feel that the battle that is on the horizon is going to be epic and I'm so ready for that!

Ok book 3 begins right where book 2 ends.... I can not stress enough that this book is part of a series and it must be read in order.
Finley is really coming into her own and in The Evolution of Fae Gods we get to learn a little more about just what powers she posses. The Scooby Gang really rallies around her as the clock is really ticking down on the prophecy. I will say things are really beginning to heat up and more players are coming out to play. I did enjoy this instalment as we get more interactions between Carrick and Finley, but we also get to see a softer gentler side to him.
The ending left me with my jaw hanging open, but you will need to read that to figure out why....

We finally got to the good stuff!

While you do not get any spice until the end of this installment, the writing, the stories, and everything else is amazing!

3.5 Stars: Yet another cliffhanger! Fortunately, all the books are out.

Three books in and I’m still obsessed with this prophecy and the relationship between Carrick and Finley. Carrick’s curse… my emotions are everywhere!
