Seriously, why doesn’t this go past 5 stars?!? This series deserves so much more than that! It’s creative and jaw dropping. Every time I think I figured something out ahead of time, there is a huge twist and you’re left wondering again. Since this is the third book in the series, readers are once again left with a huge cliffhanger. But luckily, the author has slight mercy on us poor readers and the wait isn’t too long between the books.

This is the third book in the Stone Veil series, and must be read in order!!

We get deeper and deeper in the construct of this story. More secrets are revealed and uncovered. It’s getting hot and heavy, even more thrilling and intriguing!! I’m having tingles in my stomach while reading, I am that invested!!

Brilliant Mrs. Bennett, absolutely BRILLIANT!!
Can’t wait for the next one!

I kindly received an arc and voluntarily left a review!

Wow

Ok, that was one hell of a revelation. I love those so much when I'm reading, your reading and your brain is reading as fast as it can and your heart starts beating fast and your thinking about all the things in the story that really snap into place and then you think...brilliant, that was pretty clever. Outside of that reveal, the story is moving along quite nicely. This is a good story and I'm very much enjoying it.

The Evolution of Fae and Gods is the third book in the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series. This is a series of FIVE books and must be read in order!

Here's the gist of the series:

Finley is a human, destined to fight against a deadly prophecy to save the world. Unfortunately, she has to fight against a savage dark Fae who is ten times stronger than her. But she's not alone. She's teamed up with the enigmatic and wealthy, Carrick. He's not exactly human but that will be a big help to Finley.

Ok so I won't say more about the plot but believe me when I say there's all kinds of delicious twists and turns and OMGee moments! Book 3 launches right in after the bomb ending of book 2. And we're once again left with an end to this book that had my jaw on the floor! Eeek!

I'm thoroughly enjoying this story and I think this book might be my favorite so far! Carrick and Finley have finally connected romantically and this part has us learning a whole bunch of juicy tidbits about the secretive Carrick. Each book only has a few chapters dedicated to Carrick's point of view but I love getting his perspective of everything. I think he's really a big ole softy under all that stoicism!

If you're waiting to read this series until all the books are out, just know that the wonderful Sawyer Bennett is rolling them out pretty close together (so appreciated!). And I have a feeling that the next installment will be nail biting! Told from dual POVs with a twisted ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

Just as with my reviews of the previous stories in this series, there will be no spoilers from this book in this review. But there may be spoilers for the previous books in this review. So only proceed if you have read the first books in this series.

I knew I was going to love Carrick eventually. This part of the series really cemented that fact, I adore that demi-god. Now, if only I could say the same for Finley. The more this story progresses, the more her actions come across as childish and immature. Emotions are high, that is understandable. But time and time again Finley takes stupid chances and makes stupid decisions she knows are wrong, otherwise she wouldn’t try hiding what she’s doing.

While Finley drove me crazy at times, I didn’t really dislike her. I just wanted to give her a good old-fashioned talking to. And she did start to make better decisions about halfway through the book. It wasn’t lost on me that the relationship between Carrick and Finley seemed to grow stronger and deeper after she gave up her shenanigans and started really listening to the warnings she was given.

Not only does Finley get closer to Carrick, but she also starts seeing some results with her goal in getting Zaid to like her…or at least tolerate her. Things are coming together. This ragtag team that is tasked with saving the world is heading in the right direction and starting to mesh in all the right ways.

There are so many things I enjoyed about this story, but I was still not as engrossed in this one as I was in the previous books. I kind of chalk that up to middle child syndrome. At least, that’s what I’m calling it (and I can since I am a middle child myself). I’ve often noticed that the middle story in a series such as this one is a bit less exciting for me. It’s not the book’s fault. It is needed in order to give lots of information and pivot the story as things are ready to explode. And though I find these stories less than exciting, they are often the most important. They are the books where we learn the most about what will be needed in the future. Trust me when I say there is a lot that happens in this story. And yes, some of it is even thrilling. It’s the in between parts that lost me a bit.
