Started off good then went so bad. Tried to be everything under the sun, back story had kids trying all sorts of kinks, main character made pathetic, third act break up with way too much drama.
This was a good second chance book by a new to me author. I liked the flashbacks and felt they contributed to the story. I would read this author again.

While there was moments i enjoyed and i do love a fake dating situation i cannot for the life of me get past the miscommunication. I get it for the first time but it was so consistent that i really almost dnfd. I did enjoy it and it had its moments where it was slow and it made me sleepy. But it was a cute second chance romance

This story was okay, not great, not nearly as good as their first book.
This was a cute second chance romance.
Certain parts really tugged in my heartstrings. I enjoyed getting the flashbacks to their past and see their love progress the wag it did.
What irritated me the most was the lack of communication. Ugh I hated it so much. If only they talked, things would have been so much different for them.

OK I'm just not sure how to rate this one. I do appreciate a second chance romance and happy to see the character got help for his issues. What I'm not comfortable with he made the same if not very similar mistake multiple times. Their falling for one another was so well done it just hurt it happened again.
As I said so happy he got help just I don't know wanted more of an ending if that makes sense. Just felt rushed and we didn't really get to see the couple as a solid after the 2nd break up.

Oh god the miscommunication trope - how I hate you.
A 10 minute conversation and all is cleared up. Like that couldn't have happened 9 years ago.
Also Riley. You trying to tell me you didn't know both sides and DID NOTHING? What a shitty friend you are!

I feel like it's a story that could have had a little more depth, or at least the characters. The cause of the separation, although plausible, is also somewhat weak. I mean if they were such friends, and then boyfriends, how come Wesley didn't know what he was going through Cooper? But at the same time, I also understand that adolescence is always overdramatic and confusing, that feelings are felt deeply, that misunderstandings and miscommunications are more common than one believes, and therefore, decisions end up being impulsive, careless and usually wrong, even though there is a lot of love involved. This is the case between Wesley and Cooper. However, we find that almost 10 years later and the characters have not grown much. They continue not to communicate well during much of the story, hiding part of themselves from the other. And acting in the same immature way towards other people, eg, Wesley with his mother. I mean, he's a grown man who should be able to say no to his mother. Of course if that were the case, we wouldn't have this story, right? I also find it strange that despite not having spoken during that time, they know nothing about each other's lives, even though they have close friends in common.
Overall, a sweet story, with steamy moments and a connection between the MCs that is noticeable despite the years they spent apart.
