This is the strangest thing I've read in ages. Glad I pushed through the introduction and took the time to listen slowly. It's a wonderful metaphor for any number of new ideas. And that it was written so long ago speaks to the ongoing dilemma we humans have comprehending that which is outside our immediate experience. Beautiful.

Reads like a mathematical treatise, includes some outdated 18th century class and gender ideas.

This book has been called a satire on Victorian culture. Maybe I'm too out of the loop, but I don't see it. It's a fun little sci-fi type read, but nothing terribly impressive

This was an interesting read, though I found it important to keep in mind when this book was written.

There's a decent amount of sexism in this book. While I think some of this is intended in part as societal commentary, it's fairly out of touch with the modern understanding of bigotry and intersectionality we have today. If you read it with the context that this book was from the late 19th century by a theologian, it makes it a bit more accessible and the concepts easier to chew on.
