What a gorgeous cover on this book! I love Maeve from her comedy and even her odd comedy/horror movie Extra Ordinary. This book is sometimes funny and sometimes a bit preaching to the choir, considering her likely readers, but she's a good storyteller.

The humor did not speak to me, this made the reading experience feel unpleasant and like a chore.

I was hoping to like this more--I enjoyed the first, more personal essays, but a lot of this just ended up being a crash course of the last 5 years of America, which is fine for those who weren't really paying attention. That said, it was kind of great listening on audio, read by Higgins herself in her Irish lilt, and I enjoyed it whenever she veered towards her more personal experiences.

Not memoir, not really humor, definitely not the fluff I was expecting.

A lot more political reflection / research than I had gone in expecting.
