My Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/ 5 (rounded up)

This is a multi POV story essentially about obsessive love and how it can endanger and hurt those that you care about. Shifting between two different timelines, Molly meets lead singer Jake Danner at a concert in the 2010s while he is performing and they fall in love quickly and they both ride the wave of his rising fame and success. He even penned “Molly’s Song” for her - their biggest hit to date. Skipping to present day, Molly is living in the suburbs married to someone else, finding it difficult to fit in and meet new friends until she meets yoga student and newcomer Sabrina. It is clear early on that Sabrina has other motives and many secrets that link to Molly and Jake’s past.

This seems like different books at some times. I expected this to be a thriller, but it is really more of a soap opera/ drama. I enjoyed the love story of Molly and Jake - and there is so much drama with Sabrina and her secrets. Also Sabrina’s story was promising and I was curious to what all the fuss was about over Jake. I was disappointed with the lackluster ending. There was so much more potential to Sabrina and even Liz’s storyline! It is a quick read and pretty easy to follow throughout.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

This book was an absolutely wild page turner. You have to bend reality just a little bit in order to enjoy it, but I could not put it down. This author really knows how to write a suspenseful novel, Tell Me Lies is still my favorite by her!

Happy Publication Day to Can’t Look Away.

If you are eagerly waiting for a new season for YOU on @netflix pick this one now! I enjoyed this romantic suspense story of love and obsession. Mood board for this book is — You know how it ends, but you can’t stop reading. This was an interesting and addictive read for me. I love to read stories about love and obsession (thank you @carolinekepnes

This is a good summer thriller - in the suburbs of New York, secrets come to the surface and nothing is as it seems. I loved following the 3 perspectives of Molly, Sabrina, and Jake over the last 10 years. They're real characters that make mistakes and raise questions like "What if you had another chance with the one who got away?". I wish that it had more thrills, since the few twists in the book were so well-foreshadowed that I knew they were coming. But overall it's a nice book for fans of thrillers but not gore or violence. However if miscarriage or infertility are triggers for you, I'd shy away.

This was a twisty book & I enjoyed different characters narratives. Unrealistic at times & kind of repetitive

I loved Too Good to Be True when I read it last year, so naturally I snagged Carola Lovering’s newest novel when it was “read now” on NetGalley and also requested the audiobook version. I read the first half and listened to the audiobook for the second half.

Molly is a wannabe writer and yogi who ends up in a whirlwind romance with an up-and-coming musician, Jake, lead singer of Danner Lane, after locking eyes in a New York City bar one fateful night. Eventually, Molly is faced with the decision of a lifetime - she must decide between the rockstar’s erratic lifestyle or the comfort and stability of a close friend who confesses his love for her and is ready to start a family. Years later, her decision comes back to haunt her and her family in the form of a jealous, stalker ex-girlfriend, Sabrina, who sets the stage for an unanticipated reunion between all involved parties in an attempt to dig up the past and the secrets buried there. What will Molly do when faced with her past decisions and when her secrets start to air out? Would she make the same choice all over again?

This story is told between Molly, Jake, and Sabrina’s perspectives, both “then” (2013ish) and “now” (2022).

Carola does domestic/romantic suspense with stalker ex tropes the best!! I thought I had the whole plot figured out but the twists just kept coming! Brb, going to add “Tell Me Lies” - Carola’s first novel - to my tbr! She is an auto-read author for me now, for sure.

I also enjoyed the narrators a lot. They were very entertaining, which was mostly why I switched to audio for the entire second half of the book. I sometimes struggle with audiobooks where there are multiple POVs, especially ones that shift between males and females, but the quality and sufficient quantity of narrators in this one was great.

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, Macmillan Audio, and the author for an e-galley and advance listener’s copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review!

Maybe 4.5 stars. I initially thought this was a thriller but was surprised when it was also a love story of sorts. Great story!

Thank you netgalley and publisher for the opportunity to read and provide my honest feedback on this arc.

This is the second book I've read by this author, and although I liked the other better, it was mainly because it was more thriller. This book seemed more like family drama, women's fiction with a little suspense tied in. I was wholly invested with the characters though and felt like I was a part of their world. The book felt like it was a little too long but I stayed invested and didn't lose interest, so that's saying something. Overall I would recommend for others. Trigger warnings below, please skip if want to avoid any possible spoilers.

Trigger warnings: miscarriages, fertility issues,

This is the 3rd book that I have read by this author. Too good to be true is one of my top books for this year but this one fell short for me. The characters weren’t very likeable and that made it harder for me to connect to them.

I also had an issue with the ending which is where I feel like it fell short to me.

Thanks for the audiobook netgalley!
