I am confused. It's half n half for me when I read Eight Days To Live. It's tagged as an Eve Duncan novel but oh boy, it focuses on Jane McGuire to which I think it shouldn't have been included as part of the E.D. series. Not the usual forensic mystery but more of like a religious escapade.

I gotta say the story wasn't that 'captivating'. The plot and the characters were just too bland. It could've been better. Although, I kind of liked how Johansen brought in some Christian references to which she linked them into that ancient inhumane cult. I'm betting that I ain't the only one getting irritated by Jane's stubbornness.

Couldn't even get past the first few chapters....SO BORING. The characters that I loved in earlier novels were flat, uninteresting. The storyline was a major *shrug*. Glad I put it down and picked up the next Anne of Green Gables instead. :)

This is not my normal read but found it very interesting and for me enough of a thrill to enjoy it.

Eve Duncan's adopted daughter Jane Maguire is in Paris where she is having a gallery show. Euphoric after the opening, the Celine, the gallery owner, goes out for a night on the town, but Jane, more than a little jet-lagged opts to turn in. Wakened by a call, she runs downstairs and outside only to discover her friend Celine horribly murdered. This is the beginning of a series of events in which Jane is informed she is a blasphemer for painting a portrait she called Guilt, all those she loves are at risk, and she has just eight days to live. How can the painting of the man with the obviously tortured soul—a man she has only dreamed about and put on canvas—be at the heart of something so evil?

Sometimes I wonder just how much trouble this family can get into. As tired as I am getting of Eve Duncan, this story was inventive and well-told. But, please, can Eve find her Bonnie and put this series to rest?

The book was good, the plot intriguing, the characters dynamic...but I'm so annoyed with the huge gaping hole left by the character of Mark Trevor that I want to throttle Jane & Johanssen!!!! If you want Jane to have a new love interest, fine - but don't do it by hoping your readers have memories the sizes of peas and completely wipe out her previous, intense relationship (that featured in two books) and completely ignoring that he ever existed. Oh wait, he was mentioned one single time by Seth Caleb. NOT ENOUGH!

decent read, but no where near as good as other eve duncan books... probably cause it centers on jane, not eve!!
