I didn't care for this book as much as I did his other works, perhaps because I was a little more familiar with the Dreyfus case than, for example, Cicero. Still, interesting.

A man who's conscience and strength of character outweigh his personal prejudices. The parallels between the whistleblower in the political/armed forces climate of 120 years ago and now are hard to ignore. Harris blends the facts and fiction of these historical events beautifully.

Having no prior knowledge of this story, this was a really fascinating read. The pace definitely picked up towards the end of the book but the curiosity keeps you going throughout!

Turns out neither officers nor spies interest me very much. Would have loved to find out more about four-fingered Margaride’s journey of becoming a horizontale.
