Star Witch

Helen Harper

4.01 AVERAGE

Re-listen on December 22 in 2020. I was spell bound. And could remember a lot, but not how it all came together. I like Winter more witch each read.

Original review:

I liked the second book nearly as much as the first one. What I did not like was the reality TV setting. But Ivy stayed true to herself, and I love her. Also: Brutus! And I do pity poor Winter ;-)

I didn’t get into this book as much as Harper’s other books. Some of the plot line and resolution just didn’t make sense. However, the ending did leave me excited for the next book, so that is a win.

Plot twist Ivy is sent to participate in her favorite TV show "Enchantment"
Spoiler to stop a necromancer.
Yup!

We return to Ivy and our completely non-heroic heroine. A protagonist who is perhaps the most normal person I have ever read. She’s lazy, she hates getting up early, her priorities in life are to lay in front of the sofa watching bad reality TV.

This applies even to Winter. Like many people she can indeed be stirred from her laziness because she wants to impress the hot guy. But even then she has her limits - he can stir her to act but not keep her concentrating on it.
Her role of the Nasty One and her no giving a fuck whether she wins or loses was super hilarious. And her banters with the wardrobe lady who dresses her ridiculously sexy .

We have the investigation with legitimate monsters and black magic and things to worry about but these events don't deter us from the happy and light feel of the book.
Still a safety blanket for me 😁

Was just as captivated as when I dived into the first book!!! Super thrilling!! Really enjoyed seeing ivy on a reality tv show setting LOL did not expect that

This book was a little choppy. Don't read it without reading Slouch Witch first.
