It was a good book. Very different from the Disney movie. I think I enjoyed the second part a little more the the first but overall it was a good read.

To no one’s surprise, yet another example of a book being infinity more entertaining and wonderful than the film adaptation. If you can manage to shut Angela Lansbury out of your mind in the beginning of the book, the narrative will quickly do away with the movie version and you can enjoy this book. There are some wonderful turns of phrase and really funny parts, as in when the children bring a necromancer from the 17th century to the 20th, and they want him to relax so Miss Price sets him up under a tree in the garden and suggests they give him the Daily Telegraph but Paul, the youngest of the children, instead suggests they give him Little Arthur’s History of England: “It would be even better. I mean, it would all be news to Mr. Jones from chapter seven onward.” Really, a wonderful book for kids and grownups.

Absolutely delightful. Yes, it's very different from the Disney movie made with Angela Lansbury, but it doesn't matter. Both of them are wonderful on their own merit & I'd highly recommend both.

I'll deny it if you quote me, but the movie is better than the book.

If you’re expecting Disney, you may be disappointed but, as is so often the case, I find the book to be superior. It’s certainly darker

Now this is a book that I haven't read in years, probably not since I was knee high to a grasshopper. For all of this the story is packed and fast moving through adventures with a magic bedknob totally different to the film that that was made a number of years ago and so so much better!!

I'd never come across this book, or should I say two stories, although I've always been a fan of the Disney film. I read it one cold evening curled up in front of the fire and what a delightful, fun read it was. A children's book for all ages.

For those of you who have seen the film you will find the stories, although containing the same characters, are different from Disney's interpretation. There are no fighting suits of armour repelling Nazi invaders, no football playing talking animals but nonetheless they definitely captured the flavour of these lovely books.

This was a fun book. Probably more enjoyable if I didn't see the film. But still, was fun.

When reading it, you can see dialogue they [Disney] grabbed, characters, and locations for the film.

The reason I didn't rank it very high is that I felt the stories were very basic and didn't give a lot of character development. They were almost short stories per se. I do think the author could have made a series out of a traveling bed.

Oh well. Don't regret reading it!
