This is not a horror story. More of a family story that wants to be exciting with a cute ending.

I don't understand why this book is so highly rated. It had this strangely "feel good" vibe for what was going on in the story. The dialogue was awful. It was completely predictable. I just don't get where all the love for this is coming from.

This was a very quick read. Simply written and without nearly as many surprises as I kept expecting. There are many flaws with the reality of the story but I appreciate the way that we have both Nikki’s narrative navigating foster care and a new chance at life and Mia’s journey to being saved from her horrible circumstances.

This was an EXCELLENT BOOK! This is the first time I've ever read the author and will definitely read her again.

This was an intriguing read that left me wanting answers. It has an HEA that I loved. The author gives you characters that you absolutely love and ones you absolutely loathe.

This is the second book I've read by Karen McQuestion and both have been for my book club. This book was enjoyable, for the most part, but until the last 1/3 didn't keep me wanting to read. Until then I felt like I had to force myself to read it. I liked the characters, especially Nikki and Sharon. The mom was so crazy and I was so glad that she was finally caught. The ending was satisfying, but predictable. The book really makes you wonder about your neighbors, though. You just never really know a person!

I have no idea how this book has 4 stars.

I have a problem where I hate the ending to most thrillers because they're predictable. This wasn't all that different. You kind of know where it's going right from the start. That didn't stop me from enjoying the ride, though. I think a big part of the reason I gave this four stars is because I loved the relationship between Sharon and Niki. They're the two least likely people to throw together, but it works for that reason. Niki, the troubled teen, and Sharon the empty nester. When they get a glimpse of a small child washing the dishes in the middle of the night at the neighbors, it sends Sharon and Niki into a spiral trying to figure the mystery out. Because, duh, their crazy neighbor lady doesn't have small children.

It's not the most realistic, feasible book...but it's a page turner.
