mysterious medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character

When Sharon Lemke notices a little girl in her next door neighbor's kitchen washing the dishes, she is taken aback. First, why is such a little girl washing the dishes. Second, why is such a little girl even up this late. And, third, what is a little girl even doing next door - they don't have a little girl. She is willing to write it off as a trick of the eye until her foster daughter, Niki, sees the girl as well. Sharon and Niki decide to investigate - but may grow to wish the they hadn't.

A good suspense thriller with a twist or two that was well written and was narrated very well.

Very predictable

Super fast, fun read.

Good book from start to finish

I enjoyed this book from the start. It was an easy read with a great storyline that made it difficult to predict.

This book was extremly QUIET. The tone/atmosphere was just so silent and there really wasn’t much happening at all. I picked it up necause it was said to be a mystery, thriller etc and all of that was really just a lie. Or, well it kind of had amystery but it was very predictable? And it wasn’t until the 80%-mark that it started to be ok, had a bit of action at least.

Not sure I would recommend it? But if you like slow-paced, emotion-forward books that has abit of mystery you might like it? But I just found it too quiet and couldn’t handle the silence for more than a few chaoters at a time before I needed something faster and noise

This was a very slow read. I started reading this last year (2021) and finally finished it. It started to pick up to me about halfway through the book.

I don't even have words for this novel, really, except that this is not your typical "missing kid" book (if there is such a thing). I couldn't put it down and may have cried. Read it!

I liked it, didn’t love. I enjoyed seeing the story from multiple sides. A quick read. No real mystery aspect to it. You can figure out how everything connects pretty quick

Spoilers!

This book WRECKED me! I bawled at the end. Couldn’t even finish the paragraph and just sat the book down and cried.

I was hooked instantly. I love how this story changes to other characters perspectives. I was able to put some pieces together by page 120 and thought I knew who the mother is to the suspicious child (Mia). But I still had questions on how the child got where she is. I thought the answers came naturally and was told perfectly.

I LOVE the relationship between Sharon and Niki. I’ve always had a huge soft spot for fostering and adopting and love that they bonded like they did. It was heartwarming and lovely!

I loved Jacob as well. You can tell he really cares about Mia and I love that he tries to help her.

Would recommend to everyone!
