The premise of this book seemed promising but ultimately fell flat. While the characters had a few touching moments, there was very little character development overall. Many side stories began only to seemly become abandoned as the book progressed.
How does Suzette losing a baby (that supposedly mentally destroyed her) turn her into a kidnapping narcissist who treats her second chance “daughter” as a servant?
I gave it two stars because the underlying story had potential but it lacked any kind of cohesiveness. I’d recommend skipping this one.

I really enjoyed this book, however I don’t think I would classify it as a thriller. I liked the idea of the whole story, as I work in the child protective services realm. I would recommend, but do not go into this book thinking it is an action packed thriller.
Honestly couldn’t get through more than a few chapters. The stereotypes are over the top, and I just can’t care about this mopey protagonist who seems afraid of the entire world. This author has bought into a lot of really stagnant, archaic ideas about what “successful,” happy people MUST look and be like, and it shows.

Cartoonish, one-sided, over the top villain. Inauthentic writing for teenagers and overly wholesome saviorism of a foster kid.
Audio. Not the deepest book ever, but the characters are worthy, as is the problem they are trying to solve.
A Heartfelt, Exciting Read
I chose this book because at first it sounded like a supernatural/paranormal story. Lady sees little girl at the window at night? Sounds spooky. It turns out it wasn’t paranormal at all, and I’m actually glad it wasn’t. With each chapter, I kept wanting to know what would happen to little Mia. I couldn’t help but get attached from the beginning. This book shows us that some monsters aren’t paranormal at all, but are very real people that we see every day. Great read!

Compulsively readable, this thriller was unexpected and unique.
When Sharon, an elderly woman living alone welcomes a young adult, Nikki to transition from foster living, they both start to notice strange things about their neighbors and their kids. Soon they start investigating and find out some shocking hidden secrets.
Although the characters and situations were pretty unrealistic, the writing was good and the story was fun to read.
