I’m giving this book a generous 4 stars. There was a lot of predictability of characters and too much description of the rain and forest…but I didn’t want to put it down. The main storyline was unique and interesting, even if some of the side stories were a bit cliche.

First Kristin Hannah book and I FLEW through it. Such a good and interesting story. I wanted to know what happened to the girl and what would happen to the girl. Interesting to read about the speech and communication aspects of it, being a speech-language pathologist myself. Will definitely be reading more of Hannah!

It was a little more formulaic than The Great Alone, but it kept my attention and was enjoyable nonetheless.

Ugh. The worst.

Those are my thoughts. It's evident Kristen Hannah's writing got better as the years passed. I'm slowly making my way through her anthology and can't wait to get back to the good stuff.
