Really loved! Having watched the movie I knew what was happening which was helpful given how much was happening lore-wise (normally don’t like to watch movie adaptations before reading the book). Tom Bombadil was a really interesting character I wish we could’ve seen in th movie. SO much love for sweet samwise gamgee - may be one of my fav characters ever? -.5 star because it took me 18 years to get through.

I absolutely loved this book from start to end, but the first two chapters specifically are so freaking good that I could reread them over and over again. I enjoyed getting to know all of the characters, especially Gandalf, Boromir(HE CARRIED), and Frodo. Boromir and Frodo's conversation in the last chapter is freaking top tier.
Also, can we talk about Bilbo's significance in this book? Even when he's not in the scene, his name is mentioned constantly. Bilbo will forever be my favorite character, and it'll be hard for me to find a character I like more in middle earth, I think.
