This was an awesome book and I loved every minute of it. Darby is on her way to her sick mother when she has to stop at a rest stop during a horrible blizzard. She is not alone at the rest stop, inside there are four other people. While venturing outside to try to get cell reception she sees a young girl locked in a cage in the back of a van. Darby does not know who the van belongs to and she has to use her wits to save the young girl and also figure out who the kidnapper is. Darby is a fantastic protagonist and I loved the entire book. Some of the reveals or twists were obvious but that did not take away from the book.

i really liked this book. i liked how it was broken up by time - i think it played on attention to detail very well.
I think the author set the story up perfectly for each plot twist that came our way, the descriptions were so good - i felt like i was watching sitting in the darby’s passenger seat and following her into the rest stop. it made for a great read that you can easily get lost in. the chapters are short, and this book jumps into action pretty quick!
i don’t cry when i read thrillers but this definitely had me crying. i loved darby and jay so much from the start. the epilogue had me like wtf but it was so sweet once i reread it a few times lol
overall really enjoyed! i recommend

Pretty good! Plot twists were well executed, no plot holes & tightly written. I did think the ending (like very last page) was a slight cop-out and would have had more impact if the author stuck to his guns.
Graphic: Violence
Moderate: Child abuse
Minor: Animal death, Pedophilia
Darby is racing through a blizzard to get to her mother's emergency surgery; she's had a tense relationship with her in the past but pancreatic cancer can be fatal and she wants to make things right. Unfortunately, she has no choice but to get off the road and finds herself in a shady Colorado rest stop with a few other odd strangers. When she's searching for signal bars in the snow, she notices that in one of the parked cars is a little girl bound and gagged in a dog cage. Which of the strangers has kidnapped this little girl, and how far will they go to get away with it?
Even though I was spoiled for the twists earlier in the book (unbeknownst to me), this was still really fun and fast-paced! The isolation and short time frame did wonders for the tension. I had no problem listening to the entirety of this in three sessions! Adams did a great job keeping multiple balls in the air and making sure they were all relevant by the conclusion. She also doesn't hold any punches when it comes to violence. Every twist (obviously besides the one I was spoiled for) was well-done; none of them knocked my socks off in shock, but all of them surprised me. I really liked the confusion that Adams made surrounding the last chapter, it really kept me on my toes and made me relisten a few times to catch what was happening. I'm not sure about the whole fetal alcohol syndrome thing? This will be a staple thriller recommendation I give in the future just based on pure fun (if you can consider the terrible stuff in here as fun) alone.

Brilliant book! The first quarter of the book had me nervous about reading it at all, but once I got into it, I couldn’t put it down. As it’s set in one place for the book’s entirety, you really feel like you’re there. And the fact that it’s nighttime and everyone’s snowed in gives the book even more of a creepy, claustrophobic feel. Very well written, and I look forward to more from this author.
