I both get and don't get why this has so much hype. Its super fast-paced, action packed, and a quick read. Maybe its because I haven't read a straight thriller (versus a psychological thriller) in awhile, but this was just... too much. I felt exhausted just reading it.
Firstly, I will admit, there are a lot of plot twists which is probably why its so loved. BUT all of the plots twists are simply because the characters are incredibly dumb and twists quickly got so unnecessary and not fun. And this is because so much of the plot is unrealistic and the mistakes infuriating We also find out who the bad guy is early on, and become like borderline maniacal? The MC was so incredibly irritating.
I just didn't seem to care about... anyone? Except maybe the 9yo because she was... 9?

(from the jump -- this college student left for a long drive, mid-blizzard, and didn't bring a phone charger? in fact, none of the FIVE other stranded people had a single charger? nor is there a landline in this REST STOP? one of the cars is blizzard-ready yet they're stranded for some reason? this isn't suss? and when she sent the cops the wrong address I was DONE.).Spoiler

Had really high hopes for this one, the premise is amazing but the execution just wasn’t it for me unfortunately. I didn’t realise we’d find out so soon who the culprit was. There were a few good twists but you sort of saw others coming after the first one. Darby was just a bit stupid & I have no idea how she was still standing at the end of it!

This book started out by QUICKLY diving right into the story. From there, it took off! I finished this thriller in less than 48 hours!
The end had some twists I didn’t see coming, and I enjoyed the style of writing. It was a bit more gory than I had anticipated, but a great, suspenseful book!
